Which is only practical. If you learned civics you should know that we have indirect democracy because direct democracy is impractical for any political entity past a certain size.

The point is you can vote for a different candidate down the line when the previous onde does something stupid. Like starting a war of agression. In Russia not only is Putin not politically accountable, you' ll end up in jail if you call his war a war.

Maybe some of our fellows who have first-hand experience on this issue can explain it better than I can. However from what I've read, all candidates were hand-picked by the dictatorship and votes were not counted anyway, but added to a fictional tally that proclaimed 95% approval ratings.


Hence I wrote that you can vote for a different candidate. Sadly the Americans did not use this opportunity, but they had the opportunity of doing so.

The reason they didn't was caused by the president at the time financial policies at home if I remember correctly. Which is what Putin and fans are hoping for in this Ukraine conflict, for Biden to drop foreign affairs priority for economical policies. Or help republicans get power back (especially the most pro-Putin ones) and seal a more beneficial deal.

One only has to look at the critique from Republicans about the money spending to get it

I liked it when the old veterans walked with the parade....but now I read that the grandchildren hold up pictures....sorry, what have they done to deserve that? Those unearned decorations pretending to be medals diminish if not mock medals for bravery. I never served because my eyes were never good enough but I can imagine how those that did might feel looking at this gallery for showing up at the office.

The old soviet flags represent a dead murderous regime....the actual russian flags represen a living murderous regime, which we in Germany are actually helping to fight...that is mind boggling when you think about it.

You can honor the old dead without honoring the system behind it, can't you? Against what the propaganda says I'm sure most of them died for their homes and their families and because they never got another chance, not for their leaders or communism, right?

Personally I am looking forward to the day the Ukrainians invite all their allies to their own victory parade after they defeated Russia. That will probably be a nice piece of change for a German chancellor/president.

Europe is practicing soft fascism. In the US, I can fly a Russian flag and NOBODY has a right to tell me that I can't. Close to me, there is a townhouse with a Russian flag. I talked to the owner and told him how proud I was that he actually had it - along with the balls - since all the other flags in the 'hood were Ukrainian.
