That figure is for LEGAL migrants, many are just students who will only stay for 3 or 4 years and many more are on short term visas.

The 1.18 million immigrants to The USA in 2016 were ALL legal too!I suspect that figure is much higher 9 years later!
My conclusion? The USA is as bad as The UK for allowing legal migration.I think it's harder to find accurate figures on illegal immigration but I suspect The USA has MUCH more of those than The UK.
