My figure is 185,000

Yes, but your number is from a clickbait report produced by a small estate agency in Spain. The one I give comes from Eurostat, i.e.the Statistical Office of the European Union. We can also look at data from Statistics Poland (aka GUS), the statistical office of the Republic of Poland. According to the Demographic Yearbook 2025 (available here stat.gov.pl/obszary-tematyczne/roczniki-statystyczne/roczniki-statystyczne/rocznik-demograficzny-2025,3,19.html ), on 1 January 2025 the number of Brits living (i.e. having a valid residency permit of any type) in Poland was 7,510.

Except Brits aren't rushing to Poland.

Of curse they don't. They don't speak Polish, and generally they are not good at learning foreign languages.

they are not good at learning foreign languages.

They never had to do that. English was always enough. 😕

@Lazarus

State whatever you want, here is another report from Polish Radio;

polskieradio.pl/395/7789/Artykul/3574359,poland-jumps-into-top-10-destinations-for-uk-migrants-as-numbers-quadruple-%E2%80%94-study

Why is Polish Radio also claiming the Spanish stats as being correct?

Why is Polish Radio also claiming the Spanish stats as being correct?

At best it's because they haven't looked at the report and are simply reporting other articles about that report. The UN data in question shows where people move to Poland from, not what their nationality is. So when a Polish citizen moves to Poland after living in the UK for a couple of years, that is counted as one person migrating from the UK to Poland. The UN no longer breaks down migrant flows into Poland by citizenship (the last data for that was in 2015 and even then was only Polish vs other). So if you want to see how many Brits are in Poland, you need to look at the Eurostat data on the number of Brits who hold any type of residency permit for Poland, or you can look at the GUS data for the same thing.

My figure is 185,000.

What? Surely, one zero is missing there! There must be about 2 million of them - they're everywhere!

GUS

GUS Srus.

Lies - great lies - statistics - GUS statistics.

Lies - great lies - statistics - GUS statistics.

So don't believe GUS, look at the number from Eurostat instead. As far as I understand the GUS data comes from regional Foreigners Offices and Eurostat uses data from the Schengen Information System. Or you could read the UN data fo yourself.

Torq

look at the number from Eurostat (...) data from the Schengen (...) read the UN data

You see, Lazarus, you seem like an all right fellow but you take all this "data", "numbers" and "statistics" nonsense way too seriously. These things are generally not to be trusted.

What you should trust, though, is your own eyes - and we can see in Poland that Brits are everywhere in droves: queuing politely for everything, talking about the weather, saying "sorry" all the time, and wearing t-shirts when it's barely above freezing. We are being overrun.

AntV
29 May 2026  #879

We are being overrun.

Freaking Brits, they are genetically predisposed to colonize! Whether furtively (quietly overrunning by emigrating) or overtly (storming beachheads while drinking tea).

I can handle all their intruding and all that...it's the way they botch the language-and with an accent -that drives me nuts.

Torq
29 May 2026  #880

it's the way they botch the language

Hear, hear!

They have nuclear weapons and still can't agree on how to pronounce half their vowels. In general their bestial assault on commonsensical pronunciation is appaling: they pretend that 'Worcestershire' or 'Leicester' have only three or four letters. I think they are doing this out of spite. Down with this kinda thing!

AntV

😂😂

They speak it like it's a foreign language.

Hey Lazarus, what do you think of Torq's post?

we can see in Poland that Brits are everywhere in droves

But Poles like their Vietnamese immigrants......

Torq

Poles like their Vietnamese immigrants

Of course.

The Vietnamese speak much better English than the Brits, and they don't allow themselves the audacity of beating us at football. Very decent people the Vietnamese.

No - you just believe any old ****

There were about 250.000 babies born in Poland last year. What do you think is the chance of 185.000 British moving here with nobody noticing !

The real figure is probably the one from the foreigners office, about 7.000 - that's where you get your visa or karta pobytu and without those you can't work.

tvpworld.com/88698859/poland-ranks-among-top-10-destinations-for-british-expats-as-uk-minority-surges-340

Did you read the article?

It says this::

"The rocketing figure is likely linked to "incumbent migrants returning after residing in the UK rather than a trend of British-born citizens increasingly seeking to live there," Cameron Hamilton from 5 Real Estate told the Daily Mail. "

Which makes a lot more sense to me than a load of Brits without knowledge of Polish language suddenly upping sticks and thinking that finding a job there will be easy.

cms neuf
31 May 2026  #889

Yes I did - even allowing for that it's still an implausible figure.

The only source for this crap is a british real estate agent who lives in Spain

Feniks

Yes I did

I meant Milo, not you. I wondered if he'd actually read the article he linked to given that the most likely reason within it was returning migrants.

an implausible figure.

Agreed.

Whatever! So many Brits are moving to Poland!

Good man, Milo. *thumbs up*. It is a veritable flood of Brits.

Please, keep reporting on the British invasion of Poland and don't pay any attention to the so-called statistics. Lies - great lies - statistics, we all know that.

And if Bobko, Velund and other Putinists still think it was, then "destalinisation" of RuSSia would be a "good enough" reason to invade RuSSia also :)

Hey Lazarus, what do you think of Torq's post?

I think he's entitled to his opinion and to express it. But him believing something doesn't make it true. He can believe that every single one of the 184,964 people the UN DESA International Migrant Stock 2024: Destination and origin report lists as moving to Poland from the UK in 2024 are British citizens. But that doesn't mean they are British citizens. We know from Eurostat that 7,790 Brits have residency permits in Poland. Do you really believe that the EU's border security is so slack that 177,714 British citizens are living illegally in Poland?

an implausible figure

The figure is plausible for what it actually is: the number of people who live now in Poland and moved here from the UK. What is laughable is people claiming that all of those 184,964 people are British citizens when we have hard data from two separate sources showing that the vast majority of them are not.
