Should we dump them and choose euro made stuff?

Of course. This will undoubtedly encourage most businesses to stay here, and produce a slightly higher quality of products. (Much higher quality in most cases.) I don't mind to buy a more expensive product if it means the product is better, and we should also keep in mind that for every person who gets paid a fair wage, that means their money will be spent in our countries as well.

I mean, cheaper products and lower wages might seem profitable to a society in the short term, but in reality it means less travelling, less tourism, less socialising, less opportunities and less customers for everyone in the long run, business owners included. I also prefer to buy fair trade products if it means a child elsewhere can go to school instead of working for nothing for the rest of his or her life.

My philosophy is that when people spend more money on eachother, more money circulates between people, and more money will come back to people. When people leave their money on their bank accounts, it only benefits the bankers and large corporations, and I think we already know what they have in mind for society. The truth is that most of us will never really get rich by saving up money, and you never know what might happen to you tomorrow, so I don't see a reason to be too stingy.

I'm currently work on project (industrial electronics) that assume both manufacturing and selling in Russia and tries to compete with similar chinese product. For now, it looks moderately successful. But not because we can beat chinese competitors in price - our manufacturing cost is about the same as dealer prices of similar chinese product. Strong point is support and adaptation for particular customer (we produce about 4000 units per year and can afford to customize firmware for customer specific requirements, AFAIK minimum order in china is 1000 units (otherwise price is not so good) and no way to customize anything at all).

It is hard work to compete with chinese/taiwanese electronics manufacturers. If you need some parts - you have to order and wait, then pay taxes and duties. In Taipei it is just a call away. What takes a week here - can be done in a day there.
But... They cannot economically produce small lots. Most contract manufacturers simply refuse to look at orders less that 1500-2500 units, prefer 10000+.

How about an online sale with shipping from Poland? Like on ebay, where is a lot of Chinese salesman with very affordable products. You may join allegro.pl and make a business. But there's more and more product from China provided - you must be competitive to be successful.

@southern

If you want quality, you better buy German products.

Ha, in comparison with Serbian quality, German quality is ridiculous. That goes from air-flight business to the food production.

@Crow: Yes, this is why Serbia is so famous for their cars, weapons and machines. * facepalm *

I don't know what you want me to know about Serbia ?

I know that German machines including cars,weapons and even surgical-machines are spread around the entire globe and known for their quality. Even German food is spread around the world, have a look at " hamburgers " originally from Germany, but became famous in the U.S. Everyone knows " Lufthansa " , everyone knows German beer and everyone knows German car brands.

So far I haven't seen anything Serbian, neither in Germany nor the UK, nor somewhere else. Nowhere. I am sure Serbia's cuisine is nice, but face the reality ! Serbia is not known for quality as much as Germany,Switzerland or Japan is known for quality, especially when it comes to machines.

Just because you are overly-patriotic, doesn't mean you are right. Stop being blind-folded and open your eyes, face the truth. Hardly anyone knows that Serbia even exists. Ask an American to write down European countries, I will bet my ar*e that he wont write down Serbia. Ask an Asian, ask an African..non of them will write down Serbia, but all of them will remember Germany,UK,France,Switzerland.

As I've said, no offense. But I am more in to facts and having a clear view on things rather than being overly patriotic about a thing. Besides that, my grandfather was a Serbian citizen and fought for Serbia in world war two. I think I know very well about Serbia.

However, after reading your previous threads, I see that you have no idea what you are talking about.

sure. That`s how stand cards in this game. Few centuries ago, Germanics were considered for savages who eats food with their fingers. Serbian peasant couldn`t believe that something like that even exist. Then, things changed.

See, things would again change.

Well, Zastava is still a major name in the arms industry. Zastava Automobiles used to be very well known as well.

@Rubas

Even if they have one or two good companies, it's still a joke compared to what the German industry giant created since and before the industrial revolution. First car brand for example. Mercedes Benz.

When special forces want to safe human life, what do they go for? Exactly! Heckler & Koch.

I also want to add, ZASTAVA wasn't known for quality, it never was...Zastava was known for selling cheap products every third world country could afford. Zastava doesn't even import weapons, they only use them for their own military. What a joke.
