I realise this is a Polish board, however the subject of Irish Unification comes up from time to time.
Here are the latest poll results on Irish unification from the Northern Ireland Life and Times Survey:
%
To remain part of the United Kingdom, with direct rule 12
To remain part of the United Kingdom, with devolved government 50
To reunify with the rest of Ireland? 16
(Independent state) 5
Other answer (specify) 2
Don't know 14
The latest figures suggest that a mere 16% of the population of Northern Ireland are in favour of a United Ireland.
The theory has always been that if and when Catholics outnumber Protestants in the Province, Irish unity will happen almost automatically.
However, it now appears that only a minority of Catholics want to live in a United Ireland.
Does this mean that Irish unification will never happen?
