But it wasn't a regular passenger plane, it was Wagner Group's private jet and there weren't that many passengers on board. There were 7 passengers plus 3 plane's crew members.

You are giving him too much credit here. Putin has ordered the assassination of people he considers traitors with colateral damage many times before. The poison used in Salisbury did affect in addition to the target his daughter and a police officer and it was just dumb luck that not more were injured. If you look up the murdered journalists who died after revealing the truth about Putin's corruption and crimea, I seem to recall quite a few of them died with some relatives.

Putin is a vindictive coward who hates nothing more than those who betray and /or humiliate him. Prigo did both, I have no doubt that Putin wanted him dead, no matter what.

Still....often the first, logical explanation is the wanted one, but not the true one....

Western sanctions are working, the plane crashed due to a lack of spare parts.

This is not a problem for Zelensky and his conductors. He will fight to the last Ukrainian if he has to. Then move on to the next group of Slavs that "there's not a shame in wasting". Hereby I mean the Poles.

On the board of the Polish plane that crashed in RuSSia in 2010 there were, besides the Polish president and his wife, two deputy Marshals of the Senate, the deputy Marshal of the Sejm, the chief commanders of all types of the Polish army, The Chief of the National Security Bureau, Polish MPs and senators and a bunch of other more or less important people.

Putin launched a full scale invasion of Ukraine that has resulted in the deaths of thousands of civillians and his own soldiers. Why would anyone think that Putin cares about collateral damage?

And it was/is suspected that Putin was behind the 1999 bombings in RuSSia that were used to justify the second war in Chechnya, which gave Putin rise to power and popularity:
