Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 7

Ironside

I was wondering how the Polish aid should look like if Russians attack Berlin from the south.

We could send them some nice helments..is that an obvious answer?

You still want to see rational thought behind everything

that is a part of plan, escalation, they talk crazy, scare german citizens, Adf ??? already talk appeasment, they need more of the german public opinion to put more pressure onto the gov...

maybe it will work maybe not but it cheap so why not try it out ...

all those Vavilovs, Simonjans and Soloviovs

One interesting bit that I just remembered: in a special issue of Newsweek (3/2023) there is an interview with Aleksiey Fiediarov - a writer and social activist, former businessman - who spent some time in Russian prison (as any honest man in Russia is bound to). He claims that Simonjan and Soloviov often use prison slang and many inmates are not happy about it, so in case they ever end up behind bars, they will have a rather difficult time there. :)

Here's a link to Fiediarov's book...

the Moscow Grand Dukes ruled over many cities

Personally I think if Russia wants some arbitrary ancient territories back, they should probably give Karelia back to Finland and Konigsberg back to Germany first. Oh and remove all the Russians from those areas before giving them back, of course. Jesus, nobody wants that. When are Russia scheduled to invade Alaska, again?

Hahaha.

Those two are clowns. Vavilov is a mega clown.

Although... maybe Simonyan and Soloviev are extra big clowns - because in their case it is clear they do not believe a word they say. This Vavilov guy seems genuine.

Soloviev used to be a somewhat respected journalist, with totally normal views. Then he got a show on the big federal tv, and the big $, and chauffeured car - and something happened to him. Now his old journalist colleagues do not want to shake his hand.

Same story with Simonyan who was a very bright girl, with a promising journalist career. At a very young age she got a chance to develop RT, and it really went to her head.

In my circles in Russia, I know very few people who would willingly subject themselves to more than 3 minutes of Soloviev/Simonyan.

Unfortunately there is not much to watch on state channels in Russia, seeing as it is intended for 70 year old pensioners. Real information comes from the internet.

scare german citizens

People are different...and they react differently.....with some such a strategy is surely successful and they get scared and wish for peace at all costs, but some get stoked differently, those prefer to bind the helmet more firmly and to invest in more and better arms to be prepared! :)

seeing as it is intended for 70 year old pensioners.

I would had thought especially these oldies would be more pragmatic and less hot for any new war in Europe...after what this generation had been through....

Rurik was born - is Ladoga. Founded in the 800s. Then there is Great Novgorod

Ruthenia wasn't Rus. It was a crusader thing. Connected to Rome and not to Byzantium, European and not Euroasian.
Novgorod was ironically a Germanic thing, it was like the free cities of the northern plain of Germany. The Hanseatic league and so on. It also wasn't really Rus, in its institutions and culture, though it was an Orthodox beast connected to Byzantium.

Kyivan Rus and Ruthenia (Galicia-Volhynia) are entities that have existed independently based around large parts of modern Ukraine, and both predate even the modern notion of Russia.

The "Russification" of Ukraine itself is only a few hundred years old, and did not proceed uninterrupted. The same logic could be applied to say Ukraine is "Polish" (but it would be silly too).

Yes, I get this, you think Kyivan Rus is somehow yours. And it's because, get this, some prince from Kyiv moved to Moscow or something like that.

Btw, there was no such state as Kyivan Rus, it's term created in like 19th century because we don't know how that state was called at the time.

Kyivan Rus and Ruthenia

Look why do you arguee a point? It doesn't matter in the context. You don't not Russians do you?
Each one is a valid reason to claim something as their ancient Russian land:
- it right there bordering Russia.
- in the past some Russian farted there.
- few people moved there from Russia .
- people who live there speak Russian
- it used to be a part of Moscow/Soviet Union, Russian Empire, could be for years, centuries or days do not matter.
- Some Russian army rape and robb on their way some area.
- some Russian army drive by it,
- some Russian went there for a holiday
-----
The only way to make Russian claims go away (for a while at least). Is to gave them a swift kick in thier ass and send them down the slope thumbling....

What you want to arguee about?

Words of wisdom...Z has been trying to follow your advice and by now even the puppet masters in DC are not sure if he can pull this off. I wish Z well in his new home in France.

Galicia-Volhynia

Did not exist contemporaneously with Kievan Rus.

Along with Novgorod and Vladimir-Suzdal (Moscow) - it was one of three large states to emerge from the collapse of Rus.

It was the weakest of the 3, with the weakest claim to Rus, existed for the shortest period of time (because it was conquered by Poles about a century after it appeared).

Did not exist contemporaneously with Kievan Rus.

It was Ruthenia back then, yes. But that's beside the point.

Point is Muscovy wasn't even a part of it due to being obscure. Russia is a XVII century creation with made up history. Russia is a place in the Bumfuck regions of Europe that anyone who has any claim to not being tries to distance themselves from. That's why Ukrainians insist they are Ukrainians and not Russians, even though as the present occupants of what was known as Kievan Rus, they have a better claim to being "Russian" than the Muscovites.

Are you stupid? I already told you the capital moved. It moved from Vladimir to Moscow, at some point. There are many Russians that are not from Moscow, and have never lived in Moscow. Why are you constantly attacking the history of this poor city?

It is like people claiming Brazil is not a real country, because Brasilia did not exist, when Rio De Janeiro was already a big city.

No serious person can take your argument seriously.

There are many Russians that are not from Moscow, and have never lived in Moscow

Unless one is so deeply uninformed as to think the 'Rus' referred to in late antiquity has any direct relationship with the state that grew out of Moscow in the early modern period, after the Mongols torched all its competitors and had them tax their fellow Slavs on their behalf. Kyiv/Kiev, meanwhile, was founded and ruled by Vikings, grouped in with the various Varangians as far as the Byzantines were concerned. The legendary Rurik invited to rule Novgorod (not Moscow) was one such Varangian, and Varangians were so definitionally Nordic that Harald Hardrada, King of Norway and of 1066 fame, was once part of the imperial Varangian Guard.

I see you keep masturbating to Varangians.

You seem more upset than usual. I know, history lessons might be stressful. So many names and concepts to remember...

Relax, Bobko. Open your mind and let knowledge in!

At least we never had a Bathory on the throne

As usually, you fail. Stefan Batory was elected democratically, and has made one of greatest kings of Poland. Polish system of government allowed for division of power, political participation and rule of law on a level unmatched by any other system in our region.

Some RT reader is reading my mind...

Even with the ruble down, Russia is doing much better than many in the West, considering the circumstances. Russia is facing an expensive war and the toughest sanctions ever. But it has weathered the storm and diverted most of its trade elsewhere. Compare that to the US, with 35 Trillions in public debt, 20 Trillions in corporate debt and 19 trillions in consumer debt! It is living off print and spend. This is another characteristic of a failed state and it is very unsustainable!

Prosperity =/= printed and borrowed money. Prosperity comes from manufacturing aka factories and mining. We don't have factories and we hate mining. New econ model...

Some RT reader

head of RT on foreign media in russia: "It will be effective until there is censorship. I've been talking about it for 10 years, until we close everything down and ban it and replace it with our own."

on the role of RT: "conducting information war against the whole Western world,"

Russia is doing much better than many in the West, considering the circumstances

What's this based on? Has either that reader (or you) checked the mood on the street in Tver or Chelyabinsk or Omsk? russia no longer even releases all sorts of economic information it used to.....

but if sanctions aren't working... no need to stop them
