will be able to watch the match too.
A lot more Ukrainian POW eyeballs were likely glued to the Spartak Moscow v. Dynamo Moscow match last night.
Incidentally, this is one problem with the fantastic war arithmetic coming from UA official sources. The main problem, is still - of course - the fact that if Ukrainian numbers on Russian casualties were to be believed, then there should be barely anyone left to fight for Russia. However, what I wanted to point out can serve to at least underline how weakly constructed this argument is.
If Ukraine is killing 8-9-10 times as many Russians, as the Russians are killing Ukrainians - then it only stands to reason that they should have many times more Russian POWs than we have Ukrainian POWs. Unfortunately, official sources in Kiev also always complain that Russia has many multiples more of POWs, which gives it leverage in prisoner exchange negotiations.
Logically - there can only be three conclusions. The first, is that whilst UA is overall more effective in war, its soldiers suffer from a comparative lack of morale compared to Russians. That is, they do in fact kill many more Russians, but when they end up in some nasty situation themselves, they are more likely to surrender. This can even be spun in a positive way, e.g. "We train our soldiers to surrender in impossible situations, rather than expecting them to throw their bodies onto machine gun fire like the orcs do. This is because we value our people."
The second logical conclusion, is that Ukrainians are less inclined to take prisoners, and simply massacre most Russians that attempt to surrender. This conclusion, has more supporting evidence in the form of various videos online where defenseless Russian soldiers are mowed down by fire. This explanation fits well, into a wider context where Ukrainians are much more skilled in battle. The dearth of POWs is explained by the simple fact that they are all killed.
Finally, the third possible logical conclusion remaining. The simplest one. That is, that Ukrainians do not kill Russians in any proportion even remotely close to what they claim. Ukrainians have similar morale to Russians, and Ukrainians kill Russian POWs about as often as Russians kill Ukrainian POWs. In this version, nobody has abysmal morale, and nobody is a bigger war criminal. Simply, it becomes obvious that Ukraine's claimed effectiveness in this war is bogus. This has its own important ramifications.
