The US will abandon Poland, just as quickly as it has abandoned Ukraine.

You keep saying that but where's the evidence? We're nothing like those dirty kohols.

One can say the Polaks are as strong an interest group in USA as the Ukrops are in Canada.
It's merely a historical twist that we got the bald eagle as backup and they ended up with maple syrup.

One can say the Polaks are as strong an interest group in USA as the Ukrops are in Canada.

This is a point I have tried to make several times. All throughout the US there are "Polish" neighborhoods still. While the ancestry lines have to go way back in most cases, these communities are very closely knit. The observe most Polish traditions and customs though most dont even know they are Polish in origin. There are Polish "clubs" in many cities, Polish churches, and stores that import Polish foods. This is not just Chicago. In my business we did a study several years back and those with Polish ancestry numbered 23% of participants nation wide. That is a huge number for a niche' industry.

if the US comes to the conclusion that is more feasible to have an agreement with Russia and Germany

I dont see it happening with Germany. Russia is obviously a possibility given todays political climate. Interestingly the Congo President has now said that they are open to make a security deal with the US for reare earth minerals. They have more than Ukraine. This should concern Ukraine since that mineral deal has yet to be made. The Congo would also be a great jumping off point for other stupid US military ventures in the future.

Yes it's like throwing pearls to swine around these parts. You can see the difference when Trump is asked about Poland, to when he is asked about the Baltic states even. We're fine and the partnership with USA will strengthen, to the chagrin of Germany and Ukraine.

Interestingly the Congo President has now said that they are open to make a security deal with the US for reare earth minerals.

Russia could be a bargain and deliver two in one. As deals about access to Russian ores of those minerals are not out of the question.

The US would move out faster than a prairie fire with a tailwind. Would that be a better expression? I mean more descriptive.

The only evidence I have is what Trump said last week - that he wasn't sure if he would honour article 5.

On top of that the fact that the US has abandoned many allies in the past - the Afghans, South Vietnamese, now Ukraine.

Your evidence - that he won't abandon Poland because of a few old timers dancing mazurkas down the Red Apple buffet is pretty naive. Most Polish Americans don't care about grandpas village - they want jobs, cheaper eggs and a warm place to **** in Milwaukee. No problem with that.

One of Trump's unquestionable achievements is that he has moved the US on from ethnic voting. Apart from Israel and maybe Cubans are there any US ethnicity that get seriously bothered ably what happens in the old country ?

He said it during the zelensky meeting.

You are absolutely clueless of what Polish neighborhoods in the US are like. Good jobs? They have them. Cheaper eggs, they have them. Milwakee? Thats just one city with Poles and those of Polish ancestry. But even there, most of those people would be considered conservative, raised on Catholic and good family values. You really dont get it.

Because he changes his mind every week, sometimes every day - like with the tariffs.

Plus he is a liar

So of course there is doubt.

And where there is doubt, there is no doubt - we need to make our own defence plans.

I have spent plenty of time in Polish neighborhoods in the US. There are every year fewer native Poles there, and as their kids do not care about Polish issues - for them the Polish lessons and dancing are something to keep Gramps happy. In some cases among my own Pol Am relatives the young men of repeat NN talking points they hear from Joe Rogan or Fox.

Torq
23 Mar 2025  #1120

So why do you ignore the numerous explicit statements

Because statements are just that - statements. Talk is cheap and we are not going to base our safety on talk. If the USA were serious about ensuring Poland's safety, we would be included in the nuclear sharing program long time ago--we don't even have that. If the US were serious, we would have a permanent American base (the famous "Fort Trump") long time ago.

The solution to American dilly-dallying and strategic shift towards Pacific is obvious - we have to cooperate with France in nuclear power area, starting with nuclear powerplants and ending with our own nuclear force; switch to South Korea and Turkey as suppliers of long rage strike capability weapons (no kill switch or necessity of constant software updates without which the equipment is rendered useless) in short term and develop our own capabilities mid-term, and - most importantly - severely decrease interoperability of Wojsko Polskie with US Army -- we have to be able to conduct preemptive strikes and force projection operations towards Belarus, Ukraine and Królewiec without being dependent on American cooperation.

At the moment the credibility of the United States of America in any area is near zero. Their time as a global superpower is coming to an end, so Polish and European strategists have to react accordingly. We have to move away from old ways of thinking about America as a serious country and realise that these...

Trumpov

... are the people who hold power in America nowadays. Take a look. Take a good look.

When the petrodollar system is dismantled, when China--whose economy in PPP terms is already 23% larger than American--takes over all the areas that Americans abandon because muppets in the DOGE are "saving money" (all the charity funding is already being taken over by China increasing their soft power and diplomatic influence), and when America finally withdraws from Europe--ending their 80-year-old world domination--we will wake up in a totally different world, a world in which we will have to make a deal with China and Russia.

By the way - the amount saved to date by DOGE is about $80 million LOL...

Altogether, he said, the full set of initial findings of DOGE reveals about $80 million in wasteful spending that could be better spent on lethality and readiness.

defense.gov/News/News-Stories/Article/Article/4096431/initial-doge-findings-reveal-80-million-in-wasteful-spending-at-dod/

... that's about 0.004% of the sum that DoD is going to spend on F-35 fighters (the cost will be north of $2 trillion for about 2500 F-35s). xD

As I said, we will soon wake up in the world where the USA holds the position adequate to the quality and intellect of their leadership (take a look at the photos again, if you will), and for this we have to get ready because Idiocracy was not just some comedy movie made twenty years ago - it was a documentary ahead of its time.

Do they speak Danish by any chance? lol, who cares about such petty issues?

I don't; I find it trivial, not even felt by the average person. A few more dollars a week, who cares? So Paulina, in her heart, vengeful and quarrelsome, wroth it up just for the pleasure of argument, such nit-picking. By the way, asking if they are Danish-speaking is just as petty. the answer is no the birds are native to America. It does not take much time to rebuild the devastated flock of chickens; our brood is almost back to normal, prices falling like rocks or fairness in Paulina's digs.

I said nothing about native Poles in the US. I am talking about a lot of old neighborhoods in a lot of cities. Rogan, Fox, and others are conservatives, makes sense for Poles and those with Polish ancestry to be interested in those opinions. In the end, family values and conservatives always beat the side show freaks.

@Torq
Never judge a book by its cover. I have colleagues who dress the part, and people think they are wealthy and powerful. Yet, they ask me for loans and live on credit cards. I have other friends who wear cloths until the fall apart and drive ten year old cars. Yet they have millions in the bank and when they need to look the part, everyone else in the room couldnt afford to buy the same suit.

doge.gov/savings last updated March 19, 2025. In three months 115 Billion saved in combined asset control. This is transparency, and thats a lot of fvcking money. Firing all these people now saves billions more. I get it you dont trust the US, dont like whats happening. You dont have to. 67% of Americans approve of this. The war will be over, and Europe will be at peace again. But yeah that Trump sure says some unpresidential things. Never mind the results for Americans and the world.

Lie often repeated, never backup with the evidence.

Here it is, birdie. Just 10 examples of Trump's lies--fact-checked by reputable sources like The Washington Post, Politifact, and FactCheck.org:

Election & Voting Lies

1. "The 2020 election was stolen."

Multiple audits, court cases, and investigations-including those led by Republican officials-found no evidence of widespread voter fraud that would have changed the outcome.

2. "I won Georgia by a lot."

Recounts and audits confirmed Joe Biden won Georgia in 2020.

3. "We had an honest election in 2016."

U.S. intelligence agencies concluded that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to benefit Trump, though they did not determine whether it changed the result.

COVID-19 Lies

4. "COVID-19 will disappear like a miracle."

The pandemic did not disappear on its own; it required vaccines and public health measures to control.

5. "Anybody that wants a test can get a test."

Early in the pandemic, COVID-19 tests were in short supply, and many people were denied access.

6. "We are doing more testing than any other country in the world."

While the U.S. did a high number of tests, many countries tested a higher percentage of their population.

Economic Lies

7. "I created the greatest economy in history."

While the economy was strong pre-pandemic, multiple previous administrations (including those of Bill Clinton and Dwight Eisenhower) oversaw comparable or better periods of economic growth.

8. "China is paying the tariffs, not the American people."

Tariffs are taxes on imports, and studies show that American businesses and consumers bore most of the costs.

Miscellaneous Lies

"9. I was the one who got Veterans Choice passed."

The Veterans Choice Act was signed into law by Barack Obama in 2014, though Trump later expanded it.

10. "I was against the Iraq War from the beginning."

Trump publicly supported the Iraq War in a 2002 interview with Howard Stern before later opposing it.

Would you like 10 more examples?

This is also not necessarily true. What is happening might actually turn out to be good for Poland. What I don't like is cheap demagogues but I understand that they sometimes rise to power. That's life.

Trump sure says some unpresidential things.

If the guy hadn't inherited immense wealth, he would now be a retired night porter at some second-rate hotel - because that's what his intellectual level predisposes him to be (no disrespect to hard-working night porters). But hey - I'm not pointing fingers - we elected Lech Wałęsa to be our president after all. These things happen in idiocr... erm... I mean, democracy.

I see it as no longer indulging in fiction. Most of that was built on bluff anyway. The US promised in 100 places to be there when needed with the military or otherwise. It is impossible to deliver but as long as they showed in key places from time to time - nobody took a chance to call that bluff.
On the other hand, he is trying to change rules to fit the US because old ones also imposed by the US after WWII on the world are not longer feasible. They are working against the US interest.
Do you expect him to sit on his hands like Biden?

COVID-19 Lies

Want to examine the lies of the Biden admin? They are quite extensive. The US time as a super power will not end. Too many nukes and the worlds largest economy. 30 Trillion dollars a year in spending. Trump was gited a million dollars, he didnt inherit the money. He was worth hundreds of millions on his own. And anyone thining a million or even ten million is a lot of money has never been around money.

His companies have filed for bankruptcy multiple times, and - according to Felshtinsky he was bailed by Russians on several occasions (check out his Na Smyczy Kremla). One way or another, he got well over $400 million from his father (in inheritance, gifts and transfers as well as tax dodges)...

apnews.com/article/0452d29cd2564eaf97605ab90acc3a67

... let that properly sink in. Trump started out with about half-a-billion dollars in money and property on a silver platter and then filed for bankruptcy six times. That's the kind of financial genius he is. :) But sure, let's agree to disagree. I don't really care that much.

The US time as a super power will not end.
