By the way - what's the story with abandoning Orthodox Armenia to the muslim hordes of Azerbadijan? Why was Russia scared of Turkey in this case and abandoned their ally? I ask because I am not familiar with Asian poltics, and from European perspective this Russian submission to Turkey seems a bit strange.

I am a bit sentimental - in the old days Russia was a counterpower for the USA. Now they bow down to Turkey. How times change :(

Hm... I see your point. The perentage of muslims in Russian army is probably quite hight, so you had to tread carefully. Well, probably Russia weighed all the pluses and minuses between deciding not to defend Armenians in Karabakh. From the outside, without any additional information, it looked like Russian ally was humiliated and abandoned, and Turkey and Azerbadijan triumphed (the military parade, celebrations etc.) but as you say, maybe there were some other factors in play.

Armenians in Karabakh was saved from total defeat, and Azeris got only fraction of what they pretend to. And Azeris does not enter territory of Armenia itself, otherwise it would be another story.

The same would be done peacefully, years ago, but there is always exist "war party" that oppose any compromises...

Now why would Trump move such heavy hardware into that region is my question.
