By council housing I am guessing it is publicly owned, or rent controlled? Thats been tried in the US and every time it turns into a modern black ghetto. The values that Americans have, especially those needing this type of housing, do not go together with what it takes to make these programs successful in the US. This kind of socialist idea is a great idea, but can never work in the US as it does in Europe.

As for the jobs thats great for the UK. Scaling up for the US would meen that would be about 160 K new jobs. In a country of about 350 million, that doesnt move the needle. Cutting a lot of US departments, simplifying the tax code, and spending all that money on infrastructure in the US that is falling apart would create more than a million new jobs. You want to see America become strong again, get rid of useless agencies, change the tax code, and stop sending money out of the country.

The Fed Department of Education is a complete waste of time and money. Savings 238 Billion. Department of Health cut in half saves half a trillion dollars. IRS cut in half saves 7 billion. I could go on for quite a while. All the welfare employment programs in the government should be slashed. States should be responsible for their own governments. For instance, in the city I own a house in Michigan, we have city police, sheriff patrol, and state police patrol, all in less than a five mile radius. In a city of less than 15,000 why are we paying for three whole police forces? The government spending is out of control. These are just small examples.

You need a lot of police if there is such high murder rate in the US.

Every State has their own department of education, and every municipality has their own school board. A federal department is a redundant waste of time and money.

Unemployed people with guns? Where do you draw that conclusion from? Maybe take people from the IRS and retrain them to work for the Veterans? Or any other agency where there are shortages, and that actually try to help US citizens.

How would eliminating two of three tax payer funded police agencies in a five mile circumfrance hurt the poorest in that city? Particularly when the poorest in the city probably make 100K a year on average.

Angry and bitter? I would be angry with anyone who wastes money especially when its not their money to waste. If Trump wins and Elon goes in and runs his efficiency programs, I think dramatic change would be swift and would rightly put a lot of government welfare programs out of business. I realize you dont care if the country is going broke, because you dont pay into the system, and why would it matter to you if the country went broke anyway. Spend spend spend, this is the democratic liberal way. Tax tax tax, also the democratic way. Strip wealth from those who created it and give it to those who have not earned it. Has never worked when fully implemented and never will.

Same everywhere. They do need oversight. There's a reason for this and every developed country does it.
