You know, I'm still wondering why the US didn't impose higher tariffs on foreign cars earlier - what was stopping them? My guess is that it must've been in some way beneficial for them - the US is a very car-oriented society and they need a lot more cars than many other countries. So, logically, they have to import more than other countries.

For example, in 2022 drivers in the US registered a staggering number of over 278 million personal and commercial vehicles. For me - a crazy number o_O In the same year there were only over 34 million motor vehicles (of which 23 million were cars) registered in China.

According to this site and its infographic the only country that tops the US in terms of number of car ownership per 1000 inhabitants is... New Zealand. Btw, in Europe Poles apparently own the most cars per capita. I had no idea that there are so many cars in Poland o_O:
