Poles and discrimination, racism and or segregation? Experiences in America.

Hello Everyone!
I am new to this forum.
I am of polish decent and had some questions some of you may be able to answer.
When the poles came to America was there any discrimination, racism or segregation against them? If so, how and why?
I have been doing some research to find an answer but the information I find seems to be very vague.
In advance thank you for your response =). I hope everyone has a great holiday.

forget about the past... look at the way they are treated now and find your answer.

doesn't seem like a very good answer, I respect your opinion and all but I would like to learn more about the past. How is it that they are treated now?

Despite being a different culture and such, they were still white as the majority was.. as such, they weren't treated as harshly as many coloured minorities have been, right? Anyway, it would mostly be language what makes them looked down upon beyond that; speak incoherent English and... you know how it is... what I believe anyway.
