Just now! The Bataclan theater has been cleared up and the 2 terrorists have been killed. @Delph: this is not new in France but with current situation it has become worse. The government has reacted the way everybody wants: borders are now closed and inside France, police can check people any time any where (being nice is over ;)). There are a lot of heavy weapons around originally from former Yugoslavia and USSR... The government has no choice because everybody wants this to stop and borders to be closed (fed up of Shengen letting anyone in). I bet tonight people in France want death penalty for all terrorists.... I also bet (not hard) that FN shall exploit all this.

Sweden has suspended Schengen (which in practice means that border checks are carried out on the actual border, but it doesn't mean a closure) and France is apparently focusing on exit checks rather than entry checks.

Apart from that, things are as normal.


Thanks, there's a lot of conflicting information going on about the border, so that's why I wondered what French TV is saying. It seems that the border is not totally closed - planes have been landing from abroad, so I'm guessing this is a typical suspension of Schengen rather than the border being actually locked down.

InPolska, on the border issue - Schengen was already suspended today because of some climate conference, so three's a lot of uncertainty as to whether Hollande merely wants the Police aux Frontieres to step up the checks, or whether they're actually planning a complete border closure. I'm guessing because of the FN, they'll say "border closure" rather than "suspension of Schengen" to give the impression that the borders actually are closed.

Only reports on Twitter are that the PAF are asking stupid questions at the border like "why do you have a driving licence".
