I agree that they're going for benefits but a lot of those in Calais wanting to force their way into England are Afghans and Iraqis the last I knew with some Africans from non-Francophone countries. If North Africans are predominating then that's a new phenomenon. But one of the big problems in the Arab world is that they have dysfunctional education systems and their economies can't create jobs (partly due to the bad education partly for other reasons).

They want to go to UK simply because they could be issued residence and work permits whereas they do NO qualify for residence in France (sources: British and French laws - not YouTube ou Daily News or Daily Sh@@t).). Also, since they speak English (and NOT) French, they have big communities in the UK, often relatives so no need to be Einstein to understand why to England.

Their situation in France is quite particular: they do not qualify for even temporary residence. If they were like Levy (a Brazilian living in Saudi who has never set a foot in France ;)) said, they would be allowed to receive temporary residence status since from former colonies. Well, Levy does not know anything but prefers to show his huge ignorance. I don't know anything re Brazil or re Saudi Arabia so I don't argue with people who happen to know ;)).

PS: with a quick look at various English and French (including government) sites, African migrants of Calais come from ... EASTERN parts of Africa and that's why they speak English (and not French). Well, to know, you need to know about Africa ;). The other migrants are from Irak, Afghanistan, I have even read some from .... Albania.

What I know those potential terrorists far cry from being genuine refugees try to get to UK because it is easier to get all kinds of benefits than it is in France. Other than that France's benefits seem to be higher than UK's.
