Chairman Kaczyński said..... / Opinions and ideas uttered by the leader of the PIS

They removed a key part of the very clever, very subtle EU power in Poland

No, they destroyed one of the fuses which was to protect democracy and the balance of powers in Poland. PIS wants to destroy this balance and pocket all the power for themselves.

It is so funny that PiS chairman, Mr Kaczyński, decided to be a candidate to the Polish Parliament from Kielce voting district instead of Warsaw where he lives. But in Warsaw he would have to compete against Mr Honourable Donald Tusk. Kaczyński fears a sliding defeat in Warsaw that is why he decided to move to Kielce (300 km away) where he has many supporters.

Amasing! :):):):)

That hand isn`t feminine, it is the hand of a decent representative of the Polish intelligentsia. Do you know what it means???? :):):)

Behind the scenes of the meeting on Nowogrodzka Street. The PiS chairman pointed out the culprit
Jarosław Kaczyński stated at a closed meeting on Nowogrodzka Street that he is responsible for the expected loss of power - Interia has learned. .

Wow! I am really amazed he is able to tolerate such self-critisism. :):):)

Politicians also talked about specific mistakes made during the campaign. This includes: too much concentration of the message around Donald Tusk, insufficient promotion of achievements, focusing only on the hard core electorate. The lack of an offer for moderate voters, the failure to use the potential of the referendum, and the poor selection of candidates for the lists were also pointed out.

PIS` attacks on Tusk were Tusk`s fault!!! Let`s blame him for everything!!! To the end!!! hahahaha

PiS activists believe that they could demobilize their voters by constantly saying how good it is and how high the party's support is in internal polls.

hahahaha The electoral results suggest that instead of duping the voters, they deluded themselves.

don't use google translate - or if you tranlated it by yourself: pay more attention: this should read 'could have demobilized' (you should know that as an English teacher)

I know it but I use simple English for guys like you. It is completely enough. Don`t be so nitpicking - in other threads you consider it a vice. Instead, be consistent. Like a true rightist. hahahaha

His dementia is rapidly progressing. In view of the election results, he simply should resign from the post of PiS chairman.

But then, could the PiS party survive?

His dementia is rapidly progressing.

I watched one of his speeches recently and in few minutes he mentioned being old and tired several times...

Old and tired destroyer. AmaSSing.

I posted something about how tired and worn out he was (granted, I was talking more about ideas than physical/mental health) after a speech he gave in Białystok during the campaign.

Nothing remotely of interest to a moderate non-PiS member, just endless attacks on Tusk and/or stale ideas or just kind of nonsense (seemed to get confused a time or two).

The crowd ate it up as they had to... but I can't imagine any undecided voter going with PiS after that...

He's done as a political power (knock wood).

To be honest, even in simple English the sentence doesn't make any sense. To demobilize is not used in that context in the English language. What's the original Polish? Let me have a crack at it.

The original Polish phrase would be '... mogliby zdemobilizować swoich wyborców', and indeed this verb has often been used in this context lately. But if you had a look into the press of 10 years ago, you would have probably found the more literally sounding verb 'zniechęcić' in such a context. The vocabulary of the military has entered the Polish electoral campaign :-).

Personally, I would use the verb 'discourage' in this context in English.

PS. I have recently come across an interesting Polish term for the English 'incel'. Does anyone here know what it is?

Yes, that's a much better choice. Or perhaps 'deter' powstrzymać? What thinkest thou, oh Venerable One? ;)

Jarek?

Przegryw. But with the result of the recent election in view, the terms would be synonymes here.

What thinkest thou, oh Venerable One? ;)

That's Shakespeare, isn't it? Indeed, I think that 'deter' as a stronger verb, better renders the sense of the Polish context in question.

Przegryw

I thought przegryw was just 'loser'.... I first heard it a couple of years ago.

It does. Check this Cambridge site for an example from 2006:

This approach suggests that campaign negativism stimulated (rather than demobilized) turnout in presidential elections from 1980 through 2000.

It isn`t my fault that you don`t know English well enough. hahahaha

that you don`t know English well enough

I meant the English of politics. Sorry.

It seems "demobilise" is one of fave expressions used by Cambridge Uni Press. I see dozens of it in their articles. WTF?

Atch, let me tell you sth: be careful with judgement on usages of English coz there are more things in heaven and earth, than are dreamt of in your philosophy. hahahaha buhahahaha

20 years ago I took up writing down all strange expressions in English which I couldn`t believe my eyes or ears coz they sounded so close to Polish and were in a compete opposition to what I had acquired at uni.

Do you know how it all ended?? I gave up after 2, 3 years coz there were so many of those odd things and I didn`t have time to keep my little diary. :):):)

In case anybody tried to correct my English, I do fully realise there shouldn`t be a comma between earth and than.

compete

Just in case anybody tried to teach me English, it should be complete.

Anything else??? Thank you in advance.

At a party conference the Chairman commented on the main reasons of PIS` failure in the latest elections:
He suggested:
-the turnout was artificially increased by the vulgarity and delusional reality promoted by the opposition.
- PiS had invested a lot of money into the regions where their supporters reside, yet the latter didn`t show the proper gratitude. Strange.
- the opposition was unjustly promoted in the media. AmaSSing he forgot that ALL state media: TV, radio and local newspapers are controlled by PiS.

- Hołownia party was sponsored by foreign agents. hahahaha

Excellent. I am really pleased that Kaczyński remains as disattached from reality as before. It means that PIS is going to further go to the dogs in next year elections and one day it will completely disappear from the political stage. Serves them right!!!

Thank you, Mr Kaczyński. :):):)
