Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades

Tacitus

More than 150 senior Russian

Very impressive! Looks as some officials still know that they swore to serve their country, not the wannabe-tzar.

Putin had a huge lobby

The one somewhat amusing thing to come out of this is watching the Putin-apologists struggle for words and watch their recent statements come back to bite them. Wagenknecht, Gysi, Gauland, Krone-Schmalz and Co. are in some trouble now.

Putin had a huge lobby working for him in Germany

...and not only in Germany.

All these years of spinning a spider's web of gas, oil, lies and corruption, all these years of trying to project the image of Russia as a normal, modern country and a reliable partner. All that gone in an eyeblink. Pure idiocy.

They murder women and children on purpose. Great Russia must defend itself against the terrible threat posed to it by defenseless women and children.

I believe Putin would had send the tanks as the east german SED regime asked in Moscow for them in '89....had he ruled in the Kremlin and not Gorbatschow....who just politely showed them the finger instead!

That would had been a bloody massacre like at the Tiananmen and the wall would probably still be up...and we would never met here at PF....

I just took a long walk through Rynek and Planty. A lot of Ukraine people in the streets, some in Planty with luggage and crying. Real people, young and old displaced in a matter of days by a delusional tyrant. Someone has to take this guy out, it is the only answer.

I'm not so sure, fellas.

That Russian oil and gas is till needed in the European continent. NS2 was halted--not severed--it can, and probably will, be unhalted at some point. Emotions are running high right now, so all this talk of independence from Russia energy and significant increases in military spending, etc still have yet to meet the realities of time. Let's not get ahead of ourselves--leaders in power are still the same today as they were yesterday. And, us normal everyday grunts of a citizenry are still the same self-interested grunts as we always have been. When energy costs sky rocket, goods become scarcer, etc., our emotions will probably change focus.

Will the German who today is railing against Putin, give two stinks about Putin when his heating bill doubles, transportation costs go through the roof, etc.? This isn't a time to celebrate a new dawn, IMO. More like a time to start building a movement that ushers in a dawn--take nothing for granted.

I changed my mind....Ukraine into NATO and EU I say now!

Whoa, Beebs! I remember the same kind of reaction in 2015 with the migrant deluge: open them borders wide and let them poor folks in! That didn't work out well.

Someone has to take this guy out, it is the only answer.

Assuming his replacement is the Anti-Vlad. That's a tenuous assumption.

When energy costs sky rocket, goods become scarcer, etc., our emotions will probably change focus.

All true but my educated guess is nothing will become easy and clear again aslong as the ruler in the Kremlin is called Vlad Putin!

To smooth relationships with Moscow again good arguments will be needed....as long Putin wants to rebuild the Sovietunion and sits in Ukraine and threatens the Baltics and all other ex-Sovietrepublics that won't happen! They can't sell that here anymore, that's over...that's the big change since the invasion....

With a new Gorbatschow everything is possible though... :)

I remember the same kind of reaction in 2015

The power of pictures! What can I say....

When energy costs sky rocket, goods become scarcer, etc.

Economic cost will be high for both sides, and who do you think will run out of money first: Russia or the West?

The bald Hitler must be stopped, Anti; never mind the higher electricity bill.

24 Feb 2022  #1452

Anti....read that from our minister for economy (Green party)....today....your answer:

...At the same time, Habeck emphasized that the energy supply in Germany was secured. He added that even those who don't like climate protection should now realize that Germany's independence from fossil fuels and the widest possible diversification of energy sources should be the goal. It is now necessary to open our eyes and draw the necessary conclusions.....

welt.de/politik/deutschland/article237124841/Ukraine-Krise-Wir-werden-keine-Waffen-an-die-Ukraine-liefern-sagt-Robert-Habeck.html

Putin might even have done the green "Energiewende" a favor....because that's it.....NOBODY wants to be dependent on somebody like Putin!

...Habeck expects repercussions on the German economy because of the sanctions against Russia. The instruments should hit the Russian economy hard and the German economy as little as possible, said the Green politician. "But they have to be accepted." The security of supply with gas, oil and coal is secured even if Russian deliveries are completely stopped. Deliveries are currently uninterrupted....

Russia sells its ores to China.

PolAmKrakow

@Cojestdocholery
China needs the west money more than it needs Russia. China is not stupid either. They will play neutral and watch things unfold as they wait to pounce on Taiwan. They are playing a very long game, and Putin is playing a short game.

This is going to be very bad. In the end, the west will win, we always do. It really is just that simple. Putin may win some battles, and he may take all or most of Ukraine. But in the end Russia will decay, and he will eventually die. Russia will continue to be just a cheap labor farm for the rest of the world. Like the Moscow uses Siberian people for labor, the west will use and discard Russians when we are done with them. Happy gulag.

The West created China: "Hey, let's move all our industry to China and let them steal and copy all our technology. Let them become filthy rich in the process as well. What's the worst that can happen? Right?".

Anyway, if Russia wants to become totally dependent on China and become their ore-slaves, then good luck with that. :)

Bundeswehr wants to relocate Eurofighter

As a reaction to the growing tensions, the Bundeswehr is preparing to transfer further Eurofighters to Romania to protect NATO's south-eastern flank. The fighter planes should start promptly from the air base Neuburg an der Donau, as the dpa news agency learned.

The Ministry of Defense moved three Eurofighters to Romania just last week. The machines are to be integrated into an Italian Eurofighter contingent from the Mihail Kogălniceanu military airport near Constanta....

Ukrainian ambassador to the U.K. Vadym Prystaiko said: "Russia came from all four sides. We are putting up a real fight. Tanks, helicopters, planes being shot down. We are defending our land." He specified that British-donated military kit has been used to shoot down Russian planes, and called for NATO forces to enter Ukraine.

It would really better to get Ukraine into NATO as soon as possible....then NATO forces could enter immediately...but till then....

Its sadly what it is....

NATO is not coming with bodies on the ground. All the equipment they can handle will be given. IF NATO steps in, nukes are on the table with Putin imo. Putin knows he can not beat NATO and NATO would not stop with Ukraine, Belarus would be destroyed to send the message home and Russia would be locked down tight until Putin is gone.

MACRON TO DISCUSS CRISIS WITH PREDECESSORS

French President Emmanuel Macron will meet his predecessors François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysée Palace tomorrow, Macron's office said. Socialist Hollande served as president when Russia illegally annexed Crimea in 2014. Conservative Sarkozy was France's president during the Russo-Georgian war in 2008.

So Macron is going to get advice on how to handle Putin's aggression from the previous French presidents (from both sides of politics) who did nothing to address previous Putin aggression. This lack of response most probably played a large role in emboldening Putin now. Macron of course, following the path of his predecessors, is doing nothing except some wet lettuce sanctions and yelling at the Russian ambassador.

At least French policy is consistent betwen the left and right and over time.

The problem here is not just one or two bad apple leaders. It's the whole European political elite dating back two decades. The Putin appeasement itself was just a continuation of a long standing European policy dating back to the Cold War. The economic elite have also played an important role in this. The whole political and economic system has been based around appeasing Putin.

For Europe to actually do anything to contain Putin, their whole political system and ideology dating back decades has to change. It's not just a case of electing a new leader. They're all like this. The newcomers like the far right are even worse as they love Putin. Expecting any significant Western European politician to do anything about Putin is like expecting an Australian PM to do something about the overinflated housing prices in Australia.

Western Europe at least is hopeless. They're just pretending now to have some pride. It's a pretty pathetic display.

I hope to see Putin show off his power over Western Europe. I want him to make it clear exactly where they stand instead of letting them pretend. Putin being the bully he is will probably do this too, if you watched how he publicly humilated his spy chief. Yes, I'm pissed off and petty."

I want him to make it clear exactly where they stand instead of letting them pretend.

That's exactly what is happening....the time of understanding and apologizing and pretending and plain ignoring is over....Europe has changed over night and there will be no going back...

It will still take some time for that change to become clearly visible and palpable...a tank is still faster....but just wait!

I hope Russia now continue to deal with Nazis and liberate Lusatian Serbs ie Eastern Germany. Then with Nazis in Baltic states and so on. Sure, Russia can`t liberate entire world but I at least hope those countries that are near the Slavic world and essentially were Slavic themselves in past before forcible germanzation.

Blessings of Christ and Svetovid on Russia!

Berlin yesterday night....Solidarity!

Its jealousy my dear. But, don`t worry.

Only morons thinks that countries formed administratively by communists represent an obligation to anyone. I am shocked that western Europe and States respect communist borders and at the same time deny anything in connection to communism. Where is here respect to true owner, to property???
