Ukraine's maestro of diplomacy, Foreign Minister Kuleba, has made some conciliatory statements towards Poland in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
Asked what were the odds of Ukraine and Poland being able to move past the current economic and political crisis in their relations, Kuleba replied:
"The odds are inevitable. History, the future and matters of security - simply leave us no other choice but to get out of this crisis. We did not create this crisis, and we are absolutely committed to ending it."
At the same time, he predicted that until October 15, the day of parliamentary elections in Poland, "the temperature may still rise," but he assured that "we are focused on remaining constructive."
"We are working with the European Commission. We have conveyed clear signals to Poland about our commitment to a constructive solution to this situation. We do not need this grain war, and neither does Poland," Kuleba emphasized.
Kuleba went on to say, that the grain issue is a distraction, while the more serious problem is the spread of a narrative about Ukraine's alleged ingratitude for help.
Kuleba stressed that this is an "outright lie" because "Ukraine is very sincerely and deeply grateful to the Polish people and the Polish government, which has lent a shoulder and opened its arms since the beginning of Russian aggression."
He added that Ukrainians "have spoken about this 100 times, and we will say it 100 more times."
Quote:
"But putting a narrative into the minds of Poles about the ingratitude of Ukraine and Ukrainians could actually have extremely negative consequences for security. And not only for relations between our peoples, but for the security of Europe as a whole, the security of the Poles, the security of Ukrainians above all. Therefore, I am more concerned about the fight against this imposed and false narrative than about the issue of grain. Because the grain problem can be solved, as long as there is a desire to solve it. We have such a desire."Source: pravda.com.ua/rus/news/2023/09/28/7421792/index.amp
