Russian army

So on whose territory are you living now>? French, British, or Indian?

Like a broken record... .

No, a broken record was likely recorded by people that knew what they were doing and you might want to hear an uninterrupted performance of...... not the case here.

Like a broken record... .

Hey, moron, how about quitting that BS about Russian invasion ... like a broken record...

I only wish debating morons like you was harder... It's like armwrestling a 12-year-girl...

Any comments about my post 960? It's actually very simple and in English so what was the problem? No counter arguments?...I am sooo sorry...

Tacitus

We had this conversation many times before.

Why bother putting effort into debunking them when you just repeat them in a couple of days.

Novichok: "Donbass belongs to Russia."

Me: "It belongs to Ukraine according to international law"

Novichok: "They had a referendum"

Me: " That was not a fair and free referendum"

Novichok "Source please"

Me: "Provides a source depicting Russian opression in Crimea and Donbass

Novichok " There is no democracy anyway." Followed by some whataboutism, one highlight was North Korea.

So predictable. And tiresome.

they can themselves greatly benefit from having cordial relations and may even form close alliances

Russia squandered this, Russia squandered that...

Don't worry about Russia. Russia's been through worse, and somehow we're still around.

I think what's more important to discuss, are the benefits accruing to a smaller (maybe even former colonial) country, by pursuing sane and rational relations with a much larger neighbor which has dominated it historically.

Why does Ukraine seemingly have no agency in all these discussions?

The lessons of Ukraine are much more useful for Europeans than the lessons of Russia.

....sadly we have no Ukrainians here on PF.....they could answer some questions.

Don't worry about Russia. Russia's been through worse, and somehow we're still around.

Don't just love that fake concern...
Me: " That was not a fair and free referendum"

Evidence or shut the fvck up...

sadly we have no Ukrainians here on PF

We've had two Ukrainian AI chatbots.

We've had tons of Chinese bots on this forum.

Zero Russian bots - to my knowledge.

Poland has opened wide its arms, and hosted millions of Ukrainians. Poland is likely Ukraine's most important ally outside the US and Germany. Still zero Ukrainians.

What conclusions can we draw from this?

There are four Russians on the forum.

Russia's been through worse, and somehow we're still around

In a much diminished state, far from what Russia could be today. Politicall, economically, culturally, scientifically. While other countries prosper.

by pursuing sane and rational relations with a much larger neighbor

That is what Ukraine did. It signed friendship treaties with Russia, surrendered its' nukes, gave Russia a naval base in Crimea, had a lot of cultural and economic exchange. But that is not what Russia was after. It wanted controle.

In a much diminished state

It's very funny to be lectured by a German on foolhardy moves, that led to a squandering of potential.

Your country, without exaggeration, is the world champion at squandering potential.

Britain had its moment under the sun. France did for a very long time. So did Russia. America continues to enjoy it.

Only Germany, has been in a "promising" position for 2,000+ years.

Already in Caesar's times, people could say - "Oh Germania, one day it will rule the world." . Alas, it never happened - not in two thousand years.

Try winning at something, and then maintaining it for longer than a few years, and then you can teach us.

Right now you are America's loyal poodle.

Only Germany, has been in a "promising" position for 2,000+ years.

Ahem....what about the HRE? That was a good time for us (and Mitteleuropa), won't you say?

....The EU was a try to rebuild some of that lost glory, I guess....quite smart if it had worked....

Evidence or shut the fvck up, weasel...

Right now you are America's loyal poodle.

I wish they would bite and break that leash and be Russia's ally and the best trading partner.

That would be the best way to apologize for their crimes against Russians.

Novichok

No, English genius...

In 2022, Russia wanted...

No NATO in U

I know it's a bit*ch to realize that that deal is now just a dream...It was there for the taking ... like a low hanging fruit...now gone...along with 500,000 dead U men...

That was stupid not to take it...wasn't it...

@Bobko

Russia in 1945 had played a decisive role in defeating the most evil regime in history. It had liberated Eastern Europe, its economic and political system was seen as a valid alternative to the west. Many intellectuals considered it as the best path to progress. Imagine what could have been possible if Stalin had chosen a similar approach to that of the United States in Western Europe. Instead, the Russian Empire collapsed after less than 50 years, most Russians live in abject poverty and they managed to antagonize the former victims of Nazi Germany so much that those countries now request German troops as security guarantees.

Putin's reign will be seen as another squandered opportunity. He had luck on his side when he benefited from high oil and gas prices. Imagine where Russia could be today if he had invested the revenue into Russia's infrastructure, economy and education. Instead he wasted the revenue and other reserves for his foolhardy imperial ambitions.

Right now you are

Wealthy, respected and the most influential country in Europe. Not exactly a bad outcome considering where we stood 1945. If only we had realized that being more than a primus inter pares in Europe was not on the cards for us, we would have spares Europe and us a lot of tragedy and horror. But we learned our lesson. Hopefully Russians will do so as well.

here - thank you, Tacitus.
Want a pic?

Read above, Novie. You asked about proof that you have dementia. I know it is not your fault because you honestly do not remember it-see?
Tacitus post proves it.

by the way T your screen name of an impartial historian. Tall order.

Tacitus

Well, Tacitus claimed to write "sine ira et studio", yet he was human and as such victim of own biases and prejudices more often than not. Acknowledging your blind spots is the first way towards improvement.

In case with this and other wars.

You heard? Pope Francis is sick since he heard anthem of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in the middle of Vatican. He expected Pachamama but St. Sava shock. So, our brother in Christ, Francis certainly got vision of gigantic falus with wings that coming straight at papal chair with a hole.

Novichok
5 Feb 2025  #986

Well, Tacitus claimed to write "sine ira et studio",

Cut the Latin crap...

Me: " That was not a fair and free referendum"

Evidence or STFU.

Novichok
5 Feb 2025  #987

If you want to claim that a referendum was not free, the burden of proof is on you to submit the evidence collected and published by others.

What you think you can shove up yours...

pawian
5 Feb 2025  #988

a referendum was not free,

Of course it wasn`t darling, coz armed Russians threatened people to vote for imperial Russia. Besides, they didn`t allow foreign observers to monitor the voting process which is a usual practice in such conflicted areas. Additionally, people whom Russians suspected of voting against were arrested or forced to stay at homes.
This and a few other facts make this "referendum" a Russian hoax.
Simple.

Bobko
5 Feb 2025  #989

Wealthy, respected and the most influential country in Europe

Hahahaha.

You may be the richest, but France and the UK (now independent after Brexit) never cared about this.

France and Britain have nukes - you do not.

France and Britain have places like Kenya and Cameroon that they are still responsible for helping. Namibia and Tanzania only remember Germany in their nightmares.

You have no military leverage.

Your federal budget deficit brake means you cannot lend anyone money.

Germany is a big fat zero on the world scene. People to blame: Germans.

Bobko
5 Feb 2025  #990

Many intellectuals considered it as the best path to progress

Maybe they were right, but they did not consider that Russians can break even a perfectly functioning machine. We learn by taking things apart and studying the component pieces.
