The weather is not so bad. Although during the winter time, there are some crazy conditions
You are clueless
When the road plows don't go past your house for three days because they are to busy trying to keep the main roads open from whiteouts and you are snowed in without any bourbon things get sketchy.
I just took this picture of the path out to my driveway which is a quarter mile from the main road just for you to give you an idea what I deal with in the winter.
No mosquito's or people of color though.
It did get up to 17* degree F (-10C) today though.

Maybe, just maybe, good God wants that we Serbians collect all debts to us. Many would regret for betraying the Garden. Many would regret because tried to pollute the Garden.
Then will be peace. Pax Sarmatia.

The American dream: Two places. In Michgan and Florida.
Quite far away one from another. I thinked about buying small house on Tenerife, somewhere near to TFS airport, and later, if things goes well, a flat in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Two different climatic zones, one is moderately wet and like southern Russia somewhere around Black Sea shore, another is dry and moderately warm, with +20C at winter and +30C at summer. And less than 100 km one from another...
But then I looked at EU more thoroughly... And bought large 2 bedroom flat in a nearest suburbs of Moscow, with 7 min walk to large mall (in addition to a small grocery stores in every building in a block and possibility to order anything with delivery, including round the clock decent food delivery) and 12-15 min by bus to a metro station. ;)

Could that be the end of this war?
Zelenskyy proposes to trade land with Putin, offers to return Kursk
politico.eu/article/voloodymyr-zelenskyy-russia-donald-trump-trade-kursk-progress-war-drones/
If U.S. president can convince Moscow to negotiate an end to hostilities with Kyiv, Ukraine leader is ready to talk business on occupied territories. ...
If Trump really could achieve that.....wow!
..."We will swap one territory for another," Zelenskyy said in an interview with the Guardian published Tuesday, saying Kyiv would yield part of the Kursk region it has held since its surprise August incursion into Russia.....

Peskov already suggested them to write this idea on heavy paper, roll it thoroughly, and stick to you know where... AFU either withdraw from Kursk area, either will be buried there - he said.

Look at this crazy headline!
Quote:
"Military spending in Russia, whose economy President Vladimir Putin has put on a war footing, now outstrips all of Europe's defence budgets combined, according to a study.
Total Russian defence spending soared last year by 42 per cent in real terms to Rbs13.1tn. That is equivalent to $462bn on the basis of purchasing power parity, which adjusts for what currencies can buy in their home countries.
European defence budgets by comparison, including the UK and EU member states, rose almost 12 per cent last year to $457bn - slightly less than Moscow's spending, the International Institute for Strategic Studies think-tank said on Wednesday."

I know everybody is gonna come out and hate on PPP now, but I think it's actually a relevant way to measure Russia's arms production.
Russian energy, metals, labor, research, etc is all paid for in rubles - and often at substantially less cost than the Western equivalent.
The only domain where PPP would be irrelevant to warmaking, is the procurement of advanced Western chips and sensors. These unfortunately have to be paid for in dollars. But it seems like the entire military's requirement for Western high tech components can be counted in single digit billions. That is, the semiconductors should not really change the overall picture very much.

Don't worry; you're still losing.
To be honest, I'm kinda shocked myself at this figure.
It represents 7.5% of Russian GDP.
The CIA used to estimate that the Soviet Union spent approx. 12-14% of its GDP on defense, while America was spending around 5-6%. This is in the 1980s.
This is a lot of money...

US provoked Japan. In WW2 Japan is an US victim.
Japan declared war without any provocation.
Pearl Harbor was preceded by 10-20 years of competition in the Pacific including small skirmishes about which would be the hegemonistic naval power there.
No direct tit for tat provocation but it didn't come from nowhere either.

Only a stupid Brit would say that...If Russia is losing then Ukraine is winning, right? What a moron...

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that Washington will 'no longer tolerate an imbalanced relationship' with its allies, adding that 'Europe must provide the overwhelming share of future lethal and non-lethal aid to Ukraine'.

For sure. Have you read the diplomatic letter the Japanese handed over as a declaration of war. It makes interesting reading about the Japanese psyche.

How much do you think is skimmed off to Cyprus?
I don't know. A lot.
Based on how many people are going to jail after Shoigu got fired from the Ministry of Defense - I'd say the level of corruption was on a cosmic scale.
Shoigu's deputy, Timur Ivanov, was arrested for receiving a bribe of 1.2 billion roubles, or $13M. That was a single bribe. I'm sure he received many more bribes during his professional life.
The guy used to responsible for building the insane COVID hospitals before working for the MoD. When he went to work there, he was put in charge of all military construction.
The most corrupt parts of the Russian military, historically, have been the guys in charge of construction, and the guys in charge of fuel.
Whatever the tank manufacturers, rocket manufacturers, artillery manufacturers etc... steal - pales in comparison to what the f*ckers from construction and fuel can steal.
The factory directors are actually often forced to give bribes to get orders, even though they are often owned by the government too. So one government bureacrat, bribes another bureacrat, to get orders which he should have gotten anyway.
