Poland's aid to Ukraine if Russia invades - part 28

That's Kharkiv Oblast, isn't it?

It sits on the wrong side of the Oskol River, for us.

Ukraine can launch new counteroffensives from that launching pad.

When we lost it during the Kharkov Counteroffensive, it was a heavy blow. Have been trying to take it back ever since.

It's a "festung". Have to control it, if we want to live peacefully in the future.

Sounds reasonable to me. Give Donbass to Russia

The Hohols hate it.

Zelensky is risking completely losing America through his obstinate resistance to this point. And he doesn't care - it seems.

He says the Russians and Americans cooked this all up behind Ukraine's back. That the stupid Americans don't understand what they are asking of Ukraine.

That if Ukraine gives up this belt of fortified cities, it will open its interior to further invasion. After these cities there is nothing - just naked steppe. Ukrainians would have to build new fortifications in the middle of barren fields, rather than anchored down by high rises and industrial plants.

Zelensky does not want to give us the Donbass, for which tens of thousands of his warriors laid down their life. He thinks he will be forever viewed a traitor in Ukrainian history.

So here we all are - happily grinding each other into hamburgers....

Ukraine can launch new counteroffensives from that launching pad.

In the same way they can argue that if they abandon Donbass defensive lines, you will be able to continue the offensive westwards.

Mutual trust is needed in this case but can it be found after the last four years?

That if Ukraine gives up this belt of fortified cities, it will open its interior to further invasion.

Well, that is a rather good point, isn't it?

So here we all are - happily grinding each other into hamburgers...

Indeed. :-/

I must admit - it is.

Indeed. :-/

This war has no end. As Viktor Tsoy said in one of his songs - all that exists between heaven and earth is war.

Some people say it is a good thing - that war is what Ukrainians and Russians love most anyway - and here you have it to your heart's desire. Years of peace had made people soft, and this will strengthen them once again.

I don't know if I subscribe to such romantic notions, but... yes - at least it is a real war. A war as good as any you could read about in the books.

Not some Kabuki theater where we drop a few bombs on each other, and then quickly run to perform negotiations in Islamabad.

We have been blessed with a powerful enemy, and a resilient one. The joy is multiplied.

Ridiculous. A sad testament to how far the world has deteriorated in general.

We have been blessed with a powerful enemy, and a resilient one. The joy is multiplied.

I understand the sentiment and, in my feral Slavic heart, I deeply share it. My only worry is that our western partners are not ready for the kind of sacrifices that a real war, on a wider scale, would entail. The moment the bombs start falling on their Viennas and Copenhagens they will "run to Islamabad" faster than you can say "we need a de-escalation ladder".

It's always nice and refreshing to talk to you, Bobko. Your mum, as I have mentioned on several occasions, must have looked kindly on some lucky Pole in the late 1980s.

Yes, I know that Poles also enjoy a good and hard fight - somewhere deep down inside.

Like the Ukrainians - if you fight someone, it's a superpower :). Whether it be Ottomans, or Swedes, or Germans, or Russians.

Ironside might argue this is a symptom of retardation, but I don't think so. Just an accident of geography - to which the Poles had more often than not measured up adequately.

There is no honor in fighting weak people. This is why Chechens now run so much of Russian life, despite being militarily defeated - the Russian people were truly impressed by the demonstrated resilience.

Chechens are formidable warriors - even defeated, they deserve a fat lamb shank from the Tsar's table - because antagonizing such people is more expense than it's worth. What if they decide to fight again? Better to avoid that...

A worthy enemy - truly half the joy. Look at the Olympics, where marathon runners help their exhausted competitor cross the finish line.... or look at how Frazier and Foreman talked about Ali!

Ottomans, or Swedes, or Germans, or Russians

*gets all nostalgic*

A worthy enemy - truly half the joy.

Of course. Mutual respect from men about to stick bayonets into each others ribs is a poetic and gentlemanly thing. I think even our perfidious British friends and allies would agree with that.

That's why I can't bear to see Milo, Maf and Cms disrespecting Russia - the only country in the world capable of giving us a chance of dying on the battlefield rather than in some retarded place like a nursing home, hospital or our own bed.

a poetic and gentlemanly thing

The concern for many people - is that these two groups of people have more respect for each other, than for the people at home that:

1) "Had to support their large family"

2) "Worked in a critical industry (usually a cop, or a lawyer)"

3) "Were not born for war. Could not contemplate taking up arms."

They respect each other enough, but unfortunately one day they will return home - and then what do we do with them - when they hate us all?

Their level of contempt for the civilian fat cat back home, is magnitudes larger than their contempt for the person that wants to plunge a knife in between their ribs.

Funny times. Exciting times.

Human_safari

I already told you what I think should be done to them if caught. Treat them like Waffen-SS was treated when captured. No trial.

I'm sure Bobko, as a chivalrous fellow, would have a similar solution for them.

Assault battalion.

You can wash away your sin by dying for country.

Assault battalion.

Good thinking.

And no weapons for them - they can capture some from enemy forces.

No he still wants them to kill Ukrainians....

he still wants them to kill Ukrainians

An assault battallion made up of onanist drone operators without weapons is as likely to kill Ukrainians as Milo is to post a link to an actually interesting YT video.

I suspect and hope that you are being sarcastic.

Loyal and patriotic Russians are now voicing their opinions that Russia is losing tis war.

Russia is fvcked part 135.

But these are not rogue operators - the orders for human safari go right up the North Nigerian chain of command.

Just like the attacks on sleeping families in their apartment blocks

Russia has a manpower advantage over Ukraine, but that is diminishing rapidly because of Russian losses.

Ukraine has a robotic advantage over Russia.... they can kill Russians without risking Ukrainian lives.

Russia is fvcked part 136.

No, Milo, as a matter of fact I was not being sarcastic.

Bobko and I were just playing one of our favorite games - "Who's the crazier, more berserk, ultra-Slav." He usually wins, but I do my best to seem unhinged enough to make him hesitate. 5D chess.

Russian goal is certainly not just to hurt infrastructure and civilians

Hmmm starting to look like Gaza tho.. If Ukraine was an enclave they would probably try to starve them too.

Russia cannot conquer Kostiantinivka for several months so they decided to disappear it from the face of the earth, using aerial bombs weighing up to three tons.
