Could the title of this thread be corrected please? In English "eventual" means "it will happen sooner or later". "Possible" or "Candidate for" sound better (and correct).

i sincerely appreciate your suggestion. Yes, title sound better.

We should follow political career of Vuk Jeremic (former Serbian Foreign Minister). If he succeed to become UN secretary-general, it would greatly strengthen Poland`s strategic position. After all, on his previous duty in UN, when Jeremic became President of UN General Assembly, he came in power thanks to Polish and Russian support. It was first great joint diplomatic effort of Poland and Russia, which proved that Serbian mediation can do more for harmony of Polish-Russian relations and safety of Polish eastern borders, then any anglo-saxon, franco or germanic meddling. Polish-Russian diplomatic coordination when it comes to Serbia continued in recent Kosovo`s attempt to become member of UNESCO, what was prevented by Russia and Poland.

It is also interesting that, beside Poland and some other countries, Jeremic in his race to become UN secretary-general enjoy strong support of China, Japan, Russia and France.

Polish-Russian diplomatic coordination when it comes to Serbia continued in recent Kosovo`s attempt to become member of UNESCO, what was prevented by Russia and Poland.

Kosovo seems to be a highly problematic state today and in the first place it could have not been created if Serbia had behaved in a more civilized way towards the Albanian minority living there. But luckily enough, the present generation of Serbian politicians seems to be much wiser and responsible than the previous one and we should only praise them for that.

It was first great joint diplomatic effort of Poland and Russia, which proved that Serbian mediation can do more for harmony of Polish-Russian relations

With all the reservations towards Putin and his highly autocratic government in Russia that Poland may have, Poland should proceed with caution in the relations with Russia, in my view. But there is still this problem which may infuriate the PiS party in power, namely that Russia has been delaying the returning of the wreckage of the plane crashed at Smoleńsk ad calendas graecas. Why it is so is beyond my understanding (and possibly beyond the understanding of Mafketis, too).

good news, good news!

By the news of Serbian newspaper agencies Britain changes its politics on Serbia, thanks to the new British foreign secretary, Boris Johnson. So, for now British stance on Vuk Jeremic changed from negative to neutral. There are ongoing talks between Serbia and Britain and seams to be possible to seduce Britain to support Jeremic. Political analyzers thinks that it could be turning point and that may also trigger USA support for Jeremic, which would for sure make him only real possible UN secretary-general, supported by ALL great world powers, also by non-aligned movement countries as well as from most of eastern Europe. Such support may give Jeremic significant influence and possible even real power, what UN in fact really needs. Real power and real authority.

Jeremic "did something no other UNSG candidate has done"

is described as a candidate who "wants to shake up the sclerotic organization" and one who "produced a detailed policy platform containing 53 specific commitments which he 'intends to implement from Day One' - no candidate for SG has ever done this before."

an article of The National Interest Magazine about Vuk Jeremic

A Different Kind of UN Secretary General

by Nikolas K. Gvosdev, September 26, 2016
nationalinterest.org/feature/different-kind-un-secretary-general-17839
For the first time in the history of the UN, a candidate for this post has released a comprehensive campaign platform. Vuk Jeremic, .............., has issued his call for Strengthening the United Nations in the 21st Century; a detailed fifty-three-point program of action.

My observation - IF FAIL TO SUPPORT VUK JEREMIC, USA WOULD ON THE LONG RUN DAMAGE ITS OWN REPUTATION. PEOPLE ALREADY STARTED TO QUESTION USA VALUES AND AIMS AND FAILURE TO SUPPORT JEREMIC WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE THIS QUESTIONING, EVEN ADDING TO THE IMAGE OF USA ATTRIBUTES SUCH ARE: ANTI-PROGRESSIVE, DECADENT, SELFISH, ETC.

Jeremic reluctant to comment on possible U.S. veto

Jeremic has prepared an 80-page platform to reform the UN, that contains not only his proposals on improving UN's peacekeeping missions, but also concrete proposals to reform the secretariat, reduce bureaucracy, fight corruption, and carry out a general modernization of the organization, adapting it to the 21st century

Former Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Guterres emerged as a clear leader after a sixth-straw vote at the Security Council, current President of Security Council Vitaly Churkin told reporters on Wednesday.

yes, its published already. Guterres is new UN Secretary General. Anglos stooped Vuk Jeremic to prevent real reforms of UN and to try to buy some more time to powers that promote uni-polar world (USA and western Europe).

How i heard, they offered to Jeremic position of deputy of UN Secretary General, which he, as a wise man, refused.

Anglos stooped Vuk Jeremic

Russians are "Anglos"?

Crow

We all know who supported Jeremic and who opposed. Anglos opposed. USA and Britain. Just go google that. Finally, speaking of permanent members of security council, which supported Vuk Jeremic these days- Russia, China and France avoided confrontation and accepted Guterres, as compromise. Vitaly Churkin, as current President of Security Council, merely announced that to the public.

So, i don`t know what you tries to manipulate here Harry? maybe you wants to say that France, China and Russia didn`t support Jeremic to the end? even if it meant confrontation and crumble of UN, if unable to elect new secretary-general? Is that it?

But listen, failure to support Vuk Jeremic Anglos would pay the other way. They are now marked as anti-progressive. In front of whole world. Guterres is man of status quo. Jeremic is man of new UN era. Era that now must wait.
