How would having Frontex observers at the border prevent PO attacking PiS over this issue?. Don't forget Frontex was present during the last migrant operation into Greece, and was 'involved' with the same pushbacks that are occurring in Poland, Do you think the PO opportunists will say oh frontex is there, i guess i won't show pictures of kids in the sejm or run at the border with a sack of food or say a border barrier is pointless?

PO attacking PiS over this issue

Don't assume that the thousands of people out on the streets today were from PO.

Most probably don't vote for them, and a couple of people I know who were there are/were PiS voters.

Don't assume that the thousands of people out on the streets today were from PO.

The "thousands of people out on the streets today were" were brainless leftist women who never think - only feeeeel.

a border barrier

It's amazing really that there isn't one.

17 Oct 2021  #965

I know who were there are/were PiS voters.

Do you think the roman catholics who are aligned with pope francis teachings on refugees would have gone or are the tensions/polarisation too high for them to mingle with the feminist groups that organised the protest? In Aus in the early 2000s we had the widest spectrum possible from trotskyists to church groups to hippies to indigenous.

It's amazing really that there isn't one.

Nobody needs border barriers. AK-47s will do fine.

with pope Francis teachings on refugees

Do you mean the first communist pope? The one behind an 18-foot wall and more police than citizens? That "pope"?

jon357
17 Oct 2021  #967

would have gone

Hard to say; there certainly seemed a broad spectrum there today including people I've argued with about politics and religion in real life.

working with Frontex far more than Poland is

How is this good? Let's say the migrants are admitted and held in internment camps while their claims are processed.... (the only way to keep them from bolting for Germany at the first opportuntiy) apart from the expense, how long before well-meaning sob stories are written about the poor migrants trapped in camps (surrounded by armed guards because they'll be necessary)?

What's the end game. Until you spell that out you haven't throught anything through.

jon357

held in internment camps

Not good, ever.

armed guards because they'll be necessary

Necessary ?

the end game

Is there an "end game".

mafketis
17 Oct 2021  #970

Not good, ever.

So just send them on their way to Germany! Okay, Germany clearly doesn't want that.... how will this affect German-Polish relations?

Is there an "end game".

If you don't have one you're just being pushed around by your emotions and have no serious political agenda....

jon357
17 Oct 2021  #971

So just send them on their way to Germany!

Are Lithuania doing that?

If you don't have one

Is there an 'end game'?

Germany clearly doesn't want that....

One reason why a co-ordinated response is more logical than than some of the bad behaviour from Poland right now.

co-ordinated response

What response?

amiga500
17 Oct 2021  #973

One reason why a co-ordinated response

You don't think that Germany is supporting and cheering on Poland behind the scenes, so they don't have to deal with the problem?

jon357
17 Oct 2021  #974

Some in their government may be, however things do seem to be going better in Latvia and Lithuania than in Poland.

If they've the same issues with frostbite and poisoning from fotaging, we don't hear about it.

Novichok
17 Oct 2021  #975

You don't think that Germany is supporting and cheering on Poland behind the scenes,

If they don't support Poland, they deserve another million. If they do it "behind the scenes", they are cowards, not allies.
Friends support friends in broad daylight for all to see.

@jon357
You seem quite uniformed

things do seem to be going better in Latvia and Lithuania

"Recently, a young child passed away in the migrant housing centre in Rukla in central Lithuania. Head injuries the child had sustained a long time ago had been left untreated and became fatal.. " "A caste system developed in the camp, according to the Lithuanian Red Cross, with some migrants preying on others by charging them to use bathrooms or even pushing people into prostitution. " euronews.com/2021/10/11/lithuania-converts-prison-into-migrant-reception-centre

"Faced with the unprecedented influx of migrants, the liberal-conservative Lithuanian government has announced its intent to enable the indefinite detention of asylum seekers. This follows legal changes in August which now allow the detention of migrants during a state of emergency for up to six months and, with a court's approval, up to two years." euronews.com/2021/10/01/in-lithuania-anti-migrant-rhetoric-hardens-as-europe-awaits-brussels-next-move

jon357

You seem quite uniformed

Not that 'uninformed' since it's not been a big thing in the news here, unlike the frostbite and poisoning and dumping back in the forest, which obviously and rightly are..

And it's being, as we all know, very badly handled by the government here.

amiga500
17 Oct 2021  #978

Seems it's worse in the Baltic states, a child dying in a reception centre because their head wound did not get treated, in poland we send people to hospital. Mandatory indefinite detention of migrants in Lithuania. Poland is not doing that. All three countries are utilising pushbacks. So you are wrong.

Novichok
17 Oct 2021  #979

which now allow the detention of migrants ...for up to six months and, with a court's approval, up to two years.

I like the sound of that bucket rolling down the road...OK, two years later...Now what?

jon357
17 Oct 2021  #980

Seems it's worse

Or just more people actually there, so more to happen.

n poland we send people to hospital.

"We"?

In Poland, the people just get dumped in the forest to die.

There's no 'perfect' answer to the situation, however dumping people back in the forest is not a humane response.

amiga500
17 Oct 2021  #981

"We"?

Don't start with that you twat. When you know you have no arguements and are backed into a corner you always respond with one word questions, as you did with maf. Why don't you just be honest with us and admit what your end game is, open borders and global freedom of movement to advance the cause of international socialism.

dumping people back in the forest is not a humane response.

If they refuse to apply for refugee status in poland, as the family from michałowa did, then they are illegal immigrants and should be expelled.

jon357
17 Oct 2021  #982

When you know you have no arguements and are backed into a corner

Except neither are true. One thing that is true, is that the word "we" does not fit in your sentence.

And yes, the current situation on the Belarus border is inhumane.

they are illegal immigrants

Pawns in Lukashenka's cruel game.

Novichok
17 Oct 2021  #983

however dumping people back in the forest is not a humane response.

Where do you want them dumped? In your apartment or another guy?
Leftists are like women. They only tell you what they don't want. To say what they want is risky and requires an effort to formulate.

Pawns in Lukashenka's cruel game.

BS. They became "pawns" when they crossed into his territory.

Hey, leftist, even if you ignore my posts, others will read and see what you are. I will never get tired...

amiga500
17 Oct 2021  #984

the Belarus border is inhumane.

The world is inhumane. Deal with it. And also thank western civilisation for making it less so in our neck of the woods.

They became "pawns" when they crossed into his territory.

Considering they paid 8-15k USD to get to Germany and flew to Belarus by choice they are more like customers who have not received a product rather than pawns.

No way is british Döner better than Berliner Döner!!!!

Look at that:

I looked at it, and just noticed that we posted the same picture! Aside from great minds thinking alike, you do know that the picture you posted was actually a kebab from a place in London?

The world is inhumane. Deal with it

Or listen to the Pope's recent words. One reason among many that there's so much disquiet in Poland currently at the Polish government's poor response. Quite a lot of people went on today's protest straight from Mass.

americamagazine.org/faith/2019/09/29/pope-francis-reminds-christians-migrants-and-refugees-should-be-welcomed-around

amiga500
17 Oct 2021  #986

that there's so much disquiet in Poland

And that is also true on the flipside, considering 60 + percent of poles support Polands border enforcement, there would be a lot of PO/Lewica/2050 suporters who are in the other camp. Have a look at the incredibly harsh but effective migration and integration policies of the Social Democrats in Denmark and the support they have amongst the left there as an example.

mafketis
17 Oct 2021  #987

Are Lithuania doing that?

Pretty much...

And it's being, as we all know, very badly handled by the government here.

There's no good way to handle this situation. It's a sh[t sandwich served up by a crappy Soviet dicator.

That being said, there are very few options

a- don't let them in and let the chips fall where they may

b- let them in and keep them in camps from which they cannot leave, which will turn into hellscapes (as in Lithuania)

c- send them on to Germany and normalize Poland as the new migrant channel of choice (with the social costs to locals that come with that and increasing hostility from Germany).

d- something else (with specifics that don't involve empty buzzwords like 'coordinate' with more bureaucratic entities)

Which do you support?

amiga500
17 Oct 2021  #988

Which do you support?

watch jon avoid and distract your question by posting an asinine one word response again.
"social costs?"

jon357
17 Oct 2021  #989

Which do you support?

It's not what `I support, and it's not what you support which matters. It's what can be done morally and ethically.

And no, co-ordinate is not a 'buzzword' here. It's a way of responding from a position of strength, ability, and yes, decency.

What would you do? The current PiS bałagan?

amiga500
17 Oct 2021  #990

It's what can be done morally and ethically.

Stop speaking in meaningless generalities and at least make an effort with the specifics old chap.

What would you do?

You can't avoid the question and then ask the questioner to answer the question that you have refused to answer!
