You don't have enough "force" to defend yourself from three intruders. My Beretta does, though. In fact, here, a teenage girl or an old grandma with a nice shiny gun would be better able to defend herself and her family than you with your iron bar.

BTW, one great plus with my Beretta... She leaves no witnesses who would later tell the jury that they stopped at 2 am just to get a drink of water because they were thirsty. Your iron bar would not be that effective in preventing the scum from lying.

Finally, even the words you used in your posts reveal your Euro attitude. We don't defend "yourself from an intruder". Or scream for help. We kill intruders. They know it and that is why home invasions are rare. That lottery and the uncertainty of the outcome is what works here. That is why even the stupidest gun-hating liberal from Europe would never post "no guns here" sign. Such weasels rely on mine next door to stay safe.

This is where you just can't get outside of your "USA bubble", the intruder would probably not be armed and certainly not with a gun.

As an engineer, I always had to design for the reasonable worst case - which excludes nuclear war as a factor.
Being attacked at home, as rare as it is for whatever reason, is not fiction. Once you accept that, the next thought is: what do I do when the rare is real and two guys are now on the way to the bedroom floor. The very thought is a nightmare to a man who is morally responsible for the safety of those he would risk his life for.

Being powerless is not an option no matter how rare home invasions are. To you, it is and your hope is, like you said, that such events are rare or that the intruder is alone, unarmed and that your iron will be good enough. That's a lot of assumptions.

Somebody asked here, how many guns is enough or too many. My answer was: one per room. OK, I went too far. One per floor, because, when I am in my rec room, that gun two floors up doesn't do me any good.

Also, the crime shows - real or fiction - do not help being a wishful thinker or a Euro-style anti-gun pacifist. This is why I often scream at my TV when I see stupid people do stupid things and die.

I live in Pinner which is in The London Borough of Harrow.

It is a bit like Rich living in Palatine which is a suburb of Chicago.

Palatine and The South Side are both in Chicago but have little else in common.

Pinner and Peckham are both in London but have little else in common.

Peckham = high rates of violent crime and street gangs.

Pinner = very low rates of violent crime and no street gangs.

Your whole "London" argument just does not stand up.
