USA News and Poland - Part 2

US had two choices,

Wrong. The US had the third choice - stay the hell away. The terrorists that did us harm came from other places, with our full knowledge, if not invitation. Just because we are insane in controlling who is coming is not a reason to go to war with the civilians in Afghanistan that did us no wrong. It those bad dudes in Afghanistan are so intolerable, the EU and Canada are plenty powerful to take care of them.

In much earlier times the Saxons called themselves "Sasnotas" ...in old middle high german

But the original language the Saxons spoke was the old version of what we call today plattdeutsch, wasn't it? Do we really know what they called themselves in their own language? And when was such form as 'Sasnotas' first recorded in the sources? I suppose this term was recorded in Latin first and next in German, so we may not be certain the name couldn't have been somewhat deformed by the writer in Latin.

I suppose the name of the Saxons must have occured in the Latin text of Chronica Sclavorum (1163 - 1172) by Helmold von Bosau and also by Adam von Bremen in his earlier Gesta Hammaburgensis ecclesiae pontificum (1075-1080) where they were describing the ever-lasting combats between Elbslawen and Saxons and so were obliged to use the name of the Saxon tribe in their chronicles.

Maybe the polish "Sas" is an abbrevation of the scottish "Sassenach" as ex-Saxons?

This is interesting. This shows (just as the name 'Sasnotas' does) that the original name of the Saxons was definitely longer than the Polish 'Sas' or the modern German name 'Sachse'. Both seem to indicate that they are only the shortenings of the primordial name for the Saxons. But I think the name 'Sas' had come into Polish through the language of the Elbe Slavs.

Yes, we have probably found the explanation for the Polish name 'Sas'. But who and why has aded this 'ch' to their name in German which 'ch' had apparenly never existed in their name before?

Elizabeth "Pocohontas" Warren is calling Trump a " war criminal" in a desperate attempt to increase her failing poll numbers. She's practically praising this terrorist that has killed hundreds of Americans and thousands of Iranians. If we didnt know already how bad of a President she would make, we know now.

Its ironic how Obama approved over 500 drone strikes and not one word from the Dem peanut gallery, but if a Rep orders a strike its a war crime. They are just as upset that the didnt come to them for approval. lol Yeah, lets tell untrustworthy Adam Shitt so he can leak it to CNN and warn the enemy.

Do we really know what they called themselves in

Why don't you take this to off-topic random chat already?

Ziemowit
5 Jan 2020  #2434

It is in the Off-topic already, but true, not in Random of-topic. Btw, your last post here doesn't deal with USA and Poland either, but only with the US, Trump, Obama and a certain "Pocohontas". No word on Poland or Polish people.

Actually, my exchanges with BB on the name of the Saxons in connection with Poland deserve perhaps a separate thread on the main forums, in the 'History' section, for example.

Btw, your last post here doesn't deal with USA and Poland either,

Sure it does, it has everything to do with the USA and what happens here could directly effect Poland as well. Since, there aren't any current events concerning the US and Poland lately, should we keep talking about Visas or WWII all the time? You have plenty of other threads you could choose from to post about languages. If fact, your post is totally irrelevant on this thread.

deserve perhaps a separate thread on the main forums,

Then go over there where you think you "Deserve" something.

Either is yours.

Bullshit to the core. If you think you love the USA so much, why don't you go to a forum called "The American forum" or "Love USA - Forum for American loosers of Polish descent" instead? It's gonna be a perfect place for you, RM and that idiot Dirk diggler. There you can write all you want about your lamentable "Pocohontas" and that another American idiot Trump.

Then go over there where you think you "Deserve" something.

Fortunately for the rest of us, it is not for you to decide about it, Pol-Am looser.

Then why didnt you go over there and start this new thread, is it because nobody carers about your Bullshit?

The enemy was AQ and the Taliban,

Whose enemies were they? This question calls for a full list of countries, but I will settle for the top ten. If the US and Canada are on that list, I would appreciate an explanation how.

Forum for American loosers

Better ask who financed the Taliban during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan...

Good question that was already answered: the stupid warmongering greedy a-holes in the DC and the DoD. The kindest explanation and just as dishonest is that the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Now, for the good news after that unhappy ending for the Iranian general what'shisname. Quoting my favorite source, dailymail.com:

Iraq's parliament votes to expel ALL 5,000 US troops after Qassem Soleimani killing - stoking fears of sectarian civil war and ISIS resurgence as Shia militias fight anti-government protesters

Thanks, guys. Next week, please vote to expel ALL US troops from everywhere not called USA so that they can come home and start protecting our borders - here at home.

Guys from hellaviv will do everything to prevent this.

hellaviv will do everything to prevent this.

Even if Israel disappeared from the surface of the earth, the corrupt military industrial swamp would still be here standing guard that no harm would come to the money flowing to them. They always need a reason to exist and fight at least one war. If out of wars to fight, they would demand trillions to move the ice from the South Pole to Sahara. And back. To fight climate change.

Don't even suggest that Rich, I would have to shift my entire stock portfolio into refrigeration and transportation.

Even if Israel disappeared from the surface of the earth

Don't forget the other goal of the small hats is to reduce population and what better way then a good old war.
As loose as our borders are, because of the Liberals crying open borders, it wouldn't surprise me if our enemies already have sleeper cells in the U.S. waiting for orders to release biological weapons in New York and L.A. to rattle the hell out of America by instilling fear like never before.

Only then would their Political Correctness change to, "Blow them up President Trump, wipe them off the map !"

Rich Mazur
6 Jan 2020  #2445

it wouldn't surprise me if our enemies already have sleeper cells in the U.S.

They are already here. I hope they will do something really stupid to wipe that PC smirk off the leftists' stupid faces as long as it is the fascists cities.

The problem I see immediately because I have a brain and a well functioning memory - I still remember those towers in NY going down - is that it takes a lot to get the Americans angry and into the vengeance state of mind. We somehow pride ourselves in being always reasonable and proportional - which is how we lose winnable wars.

BTW, the vengeance type movies are my favorite, with Once Upon A Time in the West and Man on Fire leading the list, followed by the original Death Wish.

Miloslaw
6 Jan 2020  #2446

is that it takes a lot to get the Americans angry

Not sure that I agree with that.
Americans tend to get angry far quicker than Europeans.
The subject of Trumps assasination of the Iranian Salami, surprisingly, does not seem to have been raised on here so far.
I think he did the right thing.
Ignoring the intel the USA say they have on what he was intending to do, Iran over stepped the mark in the last few months.

The attack on the US embassy was the tipping point, reminding Americans of the 52 hostages taken 40 years ago and all the embarrassment.
He hit them hard and drew a line.
Some leftie commentators are saying that Trumps comments since are inflaming the situation.
No.
He is speaking in the same type of language that the Iranians use and the only language they understand.
They will hit back, to save face at home, but they won't dare to hit back too hard, because they do not want an all out war with America that they know they will lose.

When they do hit back, Trump needs to hit them back even harder.
The Iranians need to learn that they have pushed too hard.

Europe has been around a lot longer than we have, Milo.
Just give us several thousand years and see what we could accomplish.

America that they know they will lose.

I'm not so sure that Iran would lose a war with America Milo. Nobody would "win". Iran is a large mountainous country and cannot be occupied like Iraq.....

Anyway it's all tit for tat, and killing one general only sets his deputy up for the same post. A complete waste of time, and morally reprehensible.

Not that the last ever bothered Neo-Cons, who always take great care that their sons never go anywhere near the Middle East and only serve their country in the US. That tells us all we need to know about their motives.

Rich Mazur
6 Jan 2020  #2449

I'm not so sure that Iran would lose a war with America Milo.

I am sure "America" will lose since "America" hates winning wars. The American military swamp has only one objective: start a war and milk the US taxpayers for as much and as long as possible. That is why America loves the high tech wars with low American casualties and very expensive stuff that goes boom. Those wars can last forever, just like that idiotic "war" in Afghanistan.

Przelotnyptak1
7 Jan 2020  #2450

. A complete waste of time, and morally reprehensible.

As usual, Doug, the supreme expert, hit the nail on the head, or should I say hammer himself on the head.

Taking out the mastermind behind the attack on the American embassy is reprehensible while violating our embassy grounds is highly moral, excusable, and in the mind of genius Doug justifiable.

I hear similar language here to what I can remember of 'Nam.

Westmoreland: We'll bomb 'em back to the Stone Age! Who though was the worse hawk? Westmoreland, LeMay or Bob McNamara?

One thing if a general talks irresponsibly, quite another when a sitting president doesn't acknowledge his proper place.

johnny reb

to what I can remember of 'Nam.

Are you saying that you served in the Vietnam war now Lyzko ?
Which branch of service ?
What years would that have been ?

You mean the youngest soldier at 12?? I was only in middle school, dude!
My pop was always glued to the radio or to the set during Watergate.

Rich Mazur

Americans tend to get angry far quicker than Europeans.

You couldn't be more wrong. Two examples: After 9/11, there was not a single act of violence against Arabs, Muslims, or any foreign scum that looked like the 19 perpetrators. The same after the Boston massacre.

Less important but still significant: we do not have so-called hooligans at the sport events. Europe does.

I think he did the right thing.

Now, this is where it gets almost funny. We have a role reversal here. You are more of an American than I am. We, the US, have no business being in those shi*t holes - I mean even the embassies - as this leads to a circular logic that goes like this: we need more troops there to protect our troops there.

No, we don't. In fact, we don't need any embassies anywhere. Video conferencing is a wonderful invention. If we can observe and direct Special Forces from 7000 miles as they assassinate Osama, we can communicate with every single country using Facetime.

Miloslaw
7 Jan 2020  #2455

We, the US, have no business being in those shi*t holes

Agreed and neither do us Brits.
But the fact is that we are there and after Iran's provocation Trump had two choices.
1.Pull all his troops out - a sign of weakness that Iran would benefit from.
2.Do what he did - a sign of strength.
Do you prefer a weak or a strong president?

Velund
7 Jan 2020  #2456

Probably, it depends of number of coffins, received in the country after each demonstration of strength. At some point, smart president may become preferable.

Now, ball is on Iranian side, and they have moral right to kill any one of those, who participated in assasination of their general.

Rich Mazur
7 Jan 2020  #2457

Trump had two choices.

...because the day he was sworn he didn't give finger to the American militaristic swamp and order ALL of the US troops home. Europe included. Did you know we have troops in Kenya? Is there a single men outside of that pos we had for president who gives a fu*ck if Kenya has terrorists?

The US does not need a single soldier outside of the US to deter an attack on the US - that deterrence being the SOLE mission of the US army. Move the same men outside and they become police. That is not why we have an army.

Does China feel insecure because they don't have their army all over the globe?
Trump could have done all of that on his signature alone but failed, most likely because he wanted to be re-elected. That is why "democracies" are nice and cuddly but abject failures in terms of long term survival.

Monkeys and inmates should never be allowed to vote in the zoos and the asylums as they can be swayed by shiny objects too easily.

johnny reb
7 Jan 2020  #2458

I agree Rich.
My favorite one is when I hear, "WE ought to just go over their and kick their ass."
My next question is always, "who are WE ?
You ? Your son ? Your daughter ? Your brother ? Who is WE ?
If it doesn't pain the public individually they don't care but once they feel the pain only then do they wake up to reality.

When they do hit back, Trump needs to hit them back even harder

The Iranians are already saying only military targets coz theyre too afraid to start a war with the US.

Trump aint going to play that game and will hit them very hard next time.

Pentagon sends six B-52 strategic bombers to military base on Diego Garcia that is beyond the range of Iran's ballistic missiles to prepare to hit Tehran if given the order.

Did you notice the only Aholes complaining about taking out this terrorist are the Democrats and the Iranians?

The leftists' stupidity is astounding. These morons - sorry for being redundant - attack Trump from the left which only gives him more voters who happen to be patriots first before they are blind party followers. The leftists just can't get it that today, after 3 years of disappointments to the real conservatives, Trump is a lot more vulnerable to the attack from the right as led by Ann Coulter and Tucker Carlson. All they would have to do is temporarily lie - as they always do - that they would clamp down hard on the illegals and even the Latinos would vote for them. Mention something like that the US troops should be here not there, and they could start ordering new drapes for the White House. But when AOC is their primary source of wisdom....
