It does. That is why their cities are burning.
No, the cities are burning because of anarchists who don't give a wit about George Floyd, but only care to cause social discord. These are not spontaneous "protests" but organized domestic terrorists.

Not good either.
Indicative of the failure of their system.

Iceland's of course. Isn't that the country currently experiencing its worst riots since the 1960?
Or perhaps it's somwhere else.

It needs to be added that Minneapolis is traditionally a left-leaning labor party political bastion.

:). How are the actions of anarchists indicative of Aa failed American system?
Wouldn't you have to first know what the motives of the anarchists are to know what their actions indicate? It isn't clear what their motives are. I have a sense they don't even know.
There's definitely a sickness in the culture, which exists outside the SYSTEM of governance
I argue these anarchists FEEL disaffected because of the breakdown of the family and an education system that is not driven by inquiry into truth and the good, but social and political agendas-in America, it started with John Dewey and his desire to infuse the public school system and teacher's colleges with his socialist ideas.
Today, history is taught mostly From a fragmented perspective. Fragments of history are taught without putting it in the greater context of the whole of known history. Civics, the study of government in society, is rarely taught anymore; when it is, it is usually only to point out the negatives.
This isn't only affecting American culture, but most, if not all, of the West.

Do you really need to ask that question...
Things aren't going well there, are they...

Do you really need to ask that question...
If you want to Solve the problem intelligently and correctly, you better ask that question.

You find this type of violence, destruction, and social discord awesome? Tells us something about your character. And then to say you find it awesome from a safe distance tells us even more: you're a coward.

Not so much the violence but definitely Trumps reaction and the increasingly deseperate explanations of his supporters - yes it's hilarious.
Obviously I wouldn't be scared to fly to the US but Dettol Don has banned incoming flights.

No. Neoliberal model is what is failing. It failing all over the world. And we are on the verge of the new industrial revolution, technological switch, consolidation of Multi-Polar world. Magnates are restless in finding their place in it. Now small people are restless, too.

In Obama's piece, the former president seems to completely discount the verifiable fact that police reforms have been ongoing all across America for decades. More and more agencies are adopting community policing type practices.
What Obama and those like him often do is paint the justice system picture as one where only blacks suffer. Yet, prison populations and court dockets are filled with white people also.
The real question is why is there a disproportionate amount of blacks per capita in the system. Obama and his ilk never seem to consider the sociological factors involved. No, to them, it can only be an inherently racist system; which is befuddling when you consider the numbers of whites who are also arrested and serving jail time.

He actually spoke proactively about effecting positive change through democratic engagement..
While Trumpet cowered in the Drumpfbunker tweeting about vicious dogs.

His point on making one's voice heard through the democratic process was good. However, his views on the problems in the justice system is race-based, which doesn't make sense when considering the number of whites in said system.
I've never heard him address the sociological aspects, single parent homes, drug trade and addiction, social attitudes. I've only heard him address it as some kind of political corruption.

Hardly surprising.
single parent homes, drug trade and addiction, social attitudes.
What causes that?

Hiding in a bunker. C'mon, get real. When the white house is surrounded by violence, the president better be secured.
Now, I do agree he should make a public address and show respect for peaceful protesters but be forceful to rioters. But, he can't simply tell the military or national guard to march into MN or whatever state and knock some heads. The governor of each state must first request it.

Difficult to imagine Bush or Obama hiding underground from a few hippies. Mind you they never would have let it get to that stage.
AntV

Hardly surprising
No, it's not. But it also doesn't make sense when conferred with data.
What causes that?
Many things, but it's not the justice system.

The massive rioting across the country isn't about the justice system. That was only a catalyst, and not for the first time.
The problems evidently run far deeper.

@cms neuf
You don't understand how things work over here. The President doesn't have the power to impose police or military action on a state. We have a federalist system where each state has certain rights that the federal gov can't impinge upon. The governor of each state has to request fed help. And guess what? Trump is begging them to request it.
The massive rioting across the country isn't about the justice system
But that's what Obama was effectively decrying in the piece he wrote that you alluded to. We were talking about that.
But, you're right, the rioting isn't about the justice system. It's about anarchists wanting to cause discord and damage democratic institutions. These rioters are anti-democratic lost souls.

Yes I understand it. Trump has spent 3 years insulting everyone - calling them pigs, liars, sleepy, low energy, crooked etc. he has Fred everyone in his team many times over. now when he needs people to work with him for some reason they don't like him or trust him.

No, you don't. Don't feel bad about it, hell, most Americans don't understand either. :)

It runs far deeper than that.
The next President will have a lot of bridges to build and wounds to heal.

@jon357
Ahh, you think this is because of Trump?
"It runs far deeper than that."
You're right. It's about anti-democracy, anti-national states, anti-capitalism, anti-American.
