Most people don't know that the cops have no legal duty to come when they get a 911 call and you can't sue them if they don't. They don't have to get there fast, either, if they decide to respond at all.

As a cop, I would religiously observe speed limits and traffic lights fearing that I might cause an accident and hurt a child or a pet. Once on location, I would say please often, never swear, and speak softly not to cause undue stress in the people who clearly need my help, not aggravation.
