Now, who nominated 3 conservative judges to the Supreme Court within the last few years???
That a Justice was nominated by a Republican is not a guarantee that a Justice will decide cases in way that is in agreement with conservative political ideals. Look at Planned Parenthood v Casey that upheld the right to abortion found in Roe, all 5 of the affirming justices were nominated by Republicans. Even those Trump appointed justices have made decisions that offend conservatives. Example, a case (that came before the court on the shadow docket) about covid vax exemptions based on religious beliefs was voted down by Trump appointees. It was also Repub-appointed Chief Justice Roberts who voted to uphold Obamacare--an legislative act loathed by the republican party.
Those are just a small sample of cases Repub-appointed justices have decided cases contrary to the republican party platform. To think a Repub-nominated justice will carry the repub political party's water in how he or she decides cases simply isn't congruent with the record of these justices.
Will you still claim that Repubs had no bearing on the Supreme Court ruling???
But, that's not what you stated. You have stated, in more than one post, that it was the Republican Party/conservatives who abolished Roe. Repubs certainly can have influence in that they put forward certain criteria they look for in nominating justices. But, as history has shown, it oftentimes does not pan out as repubs had hoped for.
I am factoring everything - you conveniently ignore the fact that most Americans are pro choice in different degrees
However you define most, the reality is that even with most Americans being pro-choice at varying degrees, republicans still win elections, 2016, 2022, even in 2020 it was very close. So, repubs win, or, at least, are very competitive with a pro-life platform in a pro-choice environment.
Something like 75% of repubs are pro-life, whereas 10% or less of dems are pro-life and independents are something like 40% pro-life. So, if 30% of pro-life voters only vote for pro-life candidates and 20% of pro-choice voters only vote pro-choice, considering the distribution of pro-life voters as seen above (and i'll go fish for a link to this polling later), who would have the most to lose with a pro-choice platform?
