They are paving the North lane of the Mackinaw bridge so the South bound is a single lane both ways.
There is a 2 1/2 hour wait the lines are so long.
I was going to go to Drumond Island today but those plans changed.
They say people can't pay their rent or buy food or to put gas in their cars however Mackinaw City is packed with people for the long holiday weekend.

Rooms are going for $400 to $500 upward a night.
I have never in my life met so many DUMB people with no manners, common sense, or etiquette.

Drive across the Big Mackinaw Bridge at 40 mph to enjoy world famous views and not have somebody on your bumper tailgating you.
Then drive another 60 miles north to the Soo which divides the United States with Canada at the Sault Ste. Marie's International Bridge over the St. Mary's River.

Sit on a park bench and watch the ocean freighters up close from all over the world go thru the Soo locks on their way to Chicago.

Some of them are over a1000 feet long
Then go West about 10 miles to the Cozy Inn bar and restaurant for the best fresh fried fish in the world. (Fresh water White fish, Walleye, Perch)

The Indians bring it in fresh from their gill nets in ice cold Lake Superior when it isn't too windy to pull them.
Then shoot down to the Mackinaw Bridge again only don't cross it, go Weat on U.S.2 around Lake Michigan (the views are world famous) and head South at Menominee back to Chicago thru Wisconsin.

Now there is a nice 1200 mile relaxing road trip for you, Novi.. 😃
(AND you will only see White people minus a few Jamaican workers in Mackinaw City.)

I already drove around the lake twice and want to do it again. US 2 and the end of the lake feel like the end of the world is not very far.

I really like Michigan and have many good memories from there. Holland is so pretty...

People from all over the mid-west flock there in the summer because it is always cool (Low 70's all summer) being surrounded by the Great Lakes natural air conditioning.

The French and the native American Indians lived in peace and then the British came and started killing them.
I recommend doing a tour of Fort Michilimackinac in Mackinaw City to learn the history of it.

No, go down the street where they are smoking fresh fish, buy some with some cheese and crackers and go sit in the park and watch the traffic crossing the Mighty Mackinaw Bridge and the huge ocean freighters crossing under it, (Don't feed the seagulls though like so many stupid people from Chicago do)

How boring as we have the biggest water park in the Midwest called 'Avalanche Bay' water park where only the Chicago tourists go because they only know commercialized activities with signs and rules.

It is located in Boyne Falls Michigan which is a Polish community and has one of the biggest Polish festivals in Michigan the first week end of August every year.

In fact Dirk came up to it with me but got bored as he was more interested in going to the Casino if you remember right.

And I stand by my claim that Northern Michigan is surrounded by Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and Lake Superior all fresh water lakes with over a thousand miles of beaches, cool breezes, great boating and fishing, unlimited tourist attractions including the World Famous Mighty Mackinaw Bridge, the Soo Locks that connect the Great Lakes that allow ocean freighters to pass from one Great Lake to the next, and on and on.

Northern Michigan has a huge draw of tourists from Florida and Texas and Tennessee and Wisconsin in the summertime.
It is very expensive to live in Northern Michigan compared to Northern Wisconsin which should tell you something in itself.
The wealthy people come here for a reason.
