If Gavin Newsom runs for President, it's a gift-wrapped win for the GOP. The guy turned California into a disaster zone-sky-high taxes, rampant homelessness, and businesses fleeing the state like it's on fire. More people have left California under his watch than any other time in history. And that $50 billion "high-speed rail" project? Still doesn't connect anything useful, unless you're trying to get from nowhere to nowhere slower than driving. The man couldn't manage a lemonade stand, let alone a country.

That's because the January 6th Committee was a complete sham. Trump wasn't even allowed to defend himself, and the Democrats wouldn't even let Republicans choose their own committee members - Nancy Pelosi handpicked them. Total joke.

You only have to pay a couple hundred bucks in fines (per employee), if you are a first time offender. If you've done it before, it can be several thousands and a few months in prison. In practice, no one ever goes to prison, and instead the prosecution almost always offers a settlement.

As long as the punishments amount to a slap on the wrist, the lure of hiring illegals is gonna be too strong.

In many areas - like construction or agriculture - it's almost impossible to NOT HIRE illegals.

I mean... if you get a loan straight from the local construction union (conditional on hiring their guys), and the city grants you some kind of amazing tax credit - then you can go and "Build American".

Also, if your berry farm is right next to a college campus - you can hire the hippie college students to pick your strawberries for you. Maybe kids from a local middle school can be rotated in and out on field trips - as a stopgap measure.

College students and middle schoolers are pretty much the only group of Americans which can compete with illegal immigrants when it comes to seasonal berry picking.

When it comes to middle schoolers, however, there's a whole gamut of annoying child labor regulations that must be navigated. They also need frequent breaks and can eat the entire value of their pickings in peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

2) Patriotic Field Corps: I suggest to create a federally sponsored service for suburban teens called the "Freedom Harvest." Every PRIME-sipping, vape-smoking high schooler must do 200 hours in the berry fields to graduate. Instagram filters will be provided for the girls.

3) Camp Grit: Teach Your Kids the Real America: This program is targeted at the very smallest Americans. For just $1,000 a week, patriotic parents can enroll their children in Christian berry-picking camps. They'll "learn humility and grace" under the beating sun, as well as what if felt like to be a slave in the antebellum South. Comes with US-made sunscreen and a complimentary video therapy session with famed neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson.

Or maybe immediately turn the USA into one big concentration camp....

Marketing: We'll work with Fox News to brand this as "restoring dignity to American labor". The key thing to remember is that this is NOT WELFARE. This is NATIONAL SERVICE. Think of it as the Peace Corps meets a penal colony, but patriotic.

Legislation: I have prepared a draft law for Congress to pass. I call it the Field Readiness and Economic Efficiency Doctrine (FREED).

Economic Impact: GDP will surge, as the healthcare industry begins to serve the new and enormous market for herniated discs.

I realize I did not address American seniors.

You can tell a lot about a nation, by the way it treats its old. This is why I have prepared something special for American seniors.
