It's pretty incredible how gorilla babies are similar to human babies. I know we're cousins and all that, but I've never observed a gorilla baby growing up, until lately. Their behaviour, mannerisms, how long they're helpless and how long it takes them to grow... It's all so similar...

In one zoo a gorilla gave birth to a little one, but there was something wrong - the father took away the baby and wouldn't give it back to the mother. It turned out the mother couldn't give birth to the placenta and she needed a surgery and the baby was in a bad shape, so the zookeepers took it away in order to keep it alive. Once the mother recovered from the surgery, they tried to give the baby back to her, but she didn't show any interest. The father and grandmother were more interested in the baby than her. So the zookeepers took it away again and one of them, Chad, is raising the baby gorilla for the time being. That zookeeper is posting videos showing how he's growing and he's behaving in those videos in a very similar way to a human baby :):
