Now, I do admit that the China virus stats have little to do with the war in Ukraine except to show the uncanny ability of your government to count with great precision when it wants to.

I mean 6,360,843 cases are not even an approximation as that would end with a bunch of zeros. Like, say, 6,350,000. The same can be said about the 118,419 covid deaths. The implied accuracy here is more than commendable.

Now, that war...All of a sudden, the same government that was able to count the cases and the deaths from a virus is unable or unwilling to count the coffins as they cross the border with Ukraine. I am assuming that those were not brought in in the dead of night so the border guards would not see them.

Do you, guys, see a conflict here, or is it just me?

I needed covid data as proof that the ability to count - like 1, 2, 3...- is still there when your government wants to. Somehow, for some inexplicable reason, your government turned selectively stupid, shy, or both and doesn't provide the daily death count of your heroes for all to hear.

For example, this morning, the temperature in Warsaw is 12 degrees and the hero body count is 57. This would certainly make the masses feel proud for the rest of the day.

Wouldn't you want to be proud today and even prouder tomorrow when the dead hero count goes to, say, 60?

You have to realise, Veli, that in a totalitarian society - like the Russian one - the amount of propaganda, disinformation and fake documents (very often fabricated by разведкa) is much greater than in democratic states. Take for example this Limonovka article that you translated yesterday - it was so obviously false, to the point of ridiculousness, but you thought it was true. That's why, if you have doubts, always ask us here and we will verify the information for you.

What do you mean, Novi? Obviously, totalitarian states have to conduct propaganda/disinformation campaigns on a much larger scale than free countries, to keep their populations in submission. Take a look at North Korea or, to a lesser extent but still, putinist Russia.

You were smart to notice that "democracies" use propaganda too but to a lesser degree.
I did notice in the war thread the desire to see things as binary - angelic vs evil - when they are actually gray. The term totalitarian is an extreme one and shouldn't be used without comment.


Without proof, I would disagree. In NK, the tool of control is raw fear so there is no need for propaganda. In "democracies", the tools are lies - mostly of omission. In NK, the process of deciding who will rule is simple and cheap. In the US, lying to 200 million voters is very expensive and takes billions.

Bottom line: Western propaganda machine is better than in any other system. How else would you explain the results of the last presidential election in the US?

Crooks and their lawyers came up with better ways to "rig" elections than fake ballots and dead people voting. A simple adjustment to the Facebook software or banning the undesirables does it just as well and it's absolutely legal. Let's start with that Western "democracies" killed or caused to be killed a lot more people since 1945 than either the USSR or Russia.
