I don't know enough of the particulars to talk intelligently about it, bit it is strange to adopt that they were friendly. It's kind of the whole thrist of Jewish history since the divided kingdoms: the drawing the divisions together.

I think the nomenclature is confusing, especially to die hard supporters of "Israel's right to defend itself". The usual thrust of their argument is that "The Kingdom of Israel" has been there since time immemorial, whereas the Palestinians came from Mars or Venus.

When you tell them, that the Kingdom of Judah, reached out to the Assyrians (sometimes called the Prussians of Antiquity), to smash their "brothers" in Israel - and since then there has been no Israel until the 20th century - they stare back at you blankly.

It's nitpicking, and maybe not debate in good faith - but there it is.

Israel's modern history started on 10/7. Nothing else matters.
