sort of by the way, a few months ago I saw the Irish language crime series Crá (English title - Boglands). I hope it's not a one off and there might be more in the future.

In English the best Irish series I've seen in the last few years was probably The Dry (dramedy about a recovering alcoholic) though I've only seen the first season so far.

You could try watching Teilifís na Gaeilge (TnaG as we call it.) They have good documentaries too.

However, darling, that's a four leaf clover, not a shamrock ;) St Patrick famously used the shamrock with its three leaves, to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity. BUT, I'm not averse to an extra bit of luck so that fourth leaf might come in handy :))


National holiday celebrating one of our Patron saints, Patrick. The other two are St Brigid and St Colmcille, the latter being arguably more important than Patrick in some respects but that's another story. Basically there are parades with floats etc. carnival style all over the country, some people drink themselves silly (but never at the actual parades which are family oriented), and it's become a celebration of Irishness, Irish culture, music etc. as much as it is about the man himself.
