Syria was only "stable" before because of brutal oppressions towards anyone that dared to step out of line.

And that was likely the best they could achieve...

@Delph: same about me and I've been writing about it "a lot' in PF! Yes, H. Clinton's idea makes sense. In the same perspective, Orban suggests that EU gives for instance 3 billion euros to Turkey and other neighboring countries in order to help migrants rather than having them come to Europe in such a "bordello" way as Merkel wants cheap labor. Orban may be a fascist (yes, he is, according to me) but let's recognize that Hungary is the "doormat" (word used this week by Charles Karolii, Hungarian ambassador to France) on which so far over 180,000 migrants have wiped their feet. Imagine 180,00 people!!! In Poland they panick over a couple of thousands and smaller Hungary has to manage with 180,000 people and let's not even talk about Greece!....

Everything was done in a chaotic way because of Merkel's irresponsiblity. Germans have no kids, the German population is getting old and Germany soon shall need workers to pay for Germans' retirements so as a result, they impose their rules to the other 27 member countries, including and not only Poland. It is already clear that Germany cannot cope with so many refugees. This morning, I heard the mayor of Munich saying his city cannot handle situation and on top of that the Oktoberfest is about to start. Last Tuesday 3 busloads of migrants were sent by Germany to France because Germany cannot manage alone. Merkel is irresponsible and now we ALL are in deep sh....t.

It is obvious that as human beings we need to help our suffering fellow human beings (no "Christian" (or "Republican" as called in France)values but simply human values that have existed since the beginning of mankind) but the bordello created by Merkel does not make any sense. I also believe that migrants should be screened in order not to take too many "indesirable" elements ;).... I remember in the 1980's about the "Mariolitos" when the US government took in thousands of Cuban refugees and the Cuban government shipped a lot of Cuban common law criminals to the US....

when you're in a hole, yell at your neighbors to keep digging....

What's going on is classic distraction politics, changing the conversation from her own catastrophically bad decision making to the primitive and mean Eastern Europeans. I just hope nobody's stupid enough to fall for it.

Latest from the good old BBC, Munich has officially snapped, overran with too many ''refugees'' no room to accept any more. 13,000 arrived yesterday alone. The mayor? of the region is quoted as saying he believes Munich has been conned by Merkel, only a matter of time before the Germans start fighting amongst themselves.

Some train services from Munich to elsewhere are designated ''refugee only'' (I hope they all bought a ticket) any ''non refugee'' customers have to make alternative travel arrangements, first of many things to effect local people.

One of the conditions of residency in Poland is if you are not in employment you have to prove you are financially secure so as not to be a burden on the countries welfare system, I guess some countries are more equal than others.

As I have said this morning, Munich's mayor cannot cope with so many refugees and since Oktoberfest is about to start, he fears fewer visitors (= less money ;). Merkel is completely irresponsible....

What I mean is that Germany's "plan" does not make any sense. The current crisis is a serious matter and has to be considered in a serious manner, which obviously Germany is not doing...

Islam is an anti-white semetic religion.

islam might be many bad things , but this is ridiculous, i'm correcting you just to be accurate and not to defend islam , but islam doesn't recognize a race and color ,unlike you, and for all the white extremists christians out there, jesus is from the middle east (palestine to be exact) and he's sure not white .

I said this because Islam has been trying to conquer Europe for how centuries? Before they were mercilessly repelled. Now traitors like Merkel roll out the welcome mat for them.

hmm, let's not forget about the crusaders, and last time i checked , there are western troops interfering in muslim countries (iraq, afghanistan, syria, libya ) and not the other way around ,there are even american bases in the holy lands of muslims .

@Syrian: including Poles! I remember how proud the Polish government was to send Polish soldiers to fight to Irak as per their friend Bush's demand ;)

Note: no need to talk to CIA's prisons in Poland for which Poland was condemned by Strasbourg court of justice in May or June 2014.

Denmark Declares 'Simply No Reason' To Join EU Asylum Seekers Resettlement Plan

Denmark has announced its refusal to participate in the EU asylum seeker resettlement plan. Rejecting the proposed distribution of 160,000 refugees, the government declared that with the Danish opt-out on EU asylum policy, there is "simply no reason" for it to participate.

As is their right to do so.

We don't need Americans to tell us what we can and can't do in Europe, we can make our own minds up.

Yes, I have heard too re the Schengen suspension. It drives me crazy to see Merkel (others are not any better ;)) taking such a decision in a couple of minutes, without thinking it over, without consulting with other European leaders (in the EU, there are 28 countries, not only Germany), without even consulting with other German politicians, including in her own party (CSU in Bavaria).

The mayor of Munich cannot make it. The Oktoberfest is about to start and considering the huge bordello made by Merkel, a lot of tourists won't come so less money for the local economy.

This is a serious matter and needs to be carefully thought over.

Merkel has invited everybody. Now there are too many of them and she cannot handle them so other countries have now to help her. This woman is even cynical towards the migrants and of course has no respect for other EU countries.

Tomorrow there is a meeting with the 28 in Brussels and on Tuesday Hungary shall start applying their new immigration rules. It is not going to be boring in Europe ;)

The Germans have created a hell of a mess but it typifies the poor decision making and lack of democracy in the EU. It could be a great institution but it badly needs reform.

Ironic that a few months ago they were telling the Brits that freedom of movement and the free labor market was sacrosanct.

I think the problem is that the EU (or more accurately, the members) can't decide if it should act as an institution that handles all matters of EU-level importance, or if it should simply be an institution that coordinates things.

It's clearly an EU matter, but the way that Germany is effectively threatening to bully others that don't go along with her plans is ridiculous.

Unable to handle the constant flow of refugees/migrants Germany has suspended Schengen directives and reinstated border contols on the Austrian frontier.

Madness. Absolute madness. This time last week, Germany was criticising Hungary for enforcing border controls.

InPolska
13 Sep 2015  #350

Yes, Delph, pure ... madness! NOW Merkel realizes it's too much for her to handle. Unbelievable! If any of us did work this way, we would be fired in a jiffy.

In Munich, some migrants shall sleep in the railway station or outdoors (I am not sure it's very hot at night in Germany now).

If I understand, Merkel and Orban are on the same line ;). Orban has congratulated Merkel.

Total circus!

So the border controls have been re-instated between Germany and Austria, all I can say is Merkel, wind your neck in, hang your head in shame and seek forgiveness. How many people on this thread have said '' control, control'' even the people for the immigrants have said it's not sustainable.

So some guy from somewhere gets to the border and he's refused entry, where does he go, oh I know, round the back door and slip in unnoticed.

Delph, agree 100%, Germany slagging off Hungary for building a fence (which is useless) and putting in some border control about 8 days ago. I think Merkel needs to remember that the EU is just a club, it just seems not all members are equal, maybe we shouldn't re-new our membership.

There talking about ''160,000'' I would think there's already close to 500,000 already either here or making their way from Greece/Italy.

I consider this now an invasion, why not just stick some big scary looking ships in the med and when these boats are spotted grab them and take them back, simples.

Absolute madness

Be assured there is more, much more to come. Now Schnegen is suspended, next 15 m walls will go up, patrolled by Harry's "attack dogs" or K9 untis as they're called in the US. But the flow will continue - once unleashed it cannot stop. Like flowing molten lava it may change course following the line of least resistance but it is unstoppable....

I used to admire Merkel, because forging a coaliton between Christian Dems and lefties was quite an accomplishment, but now following her ill-considered "800,000 refugees" offer, she qualifes for the Fool of the Year (or maybe Decade) award!

I think a lot of people are utterly bewildered at what Merkel has done here. Even the CSU (not known for attacking the CDU) has openly been commenting that they haven't got a clue why she did that.

Polonius3
13 Sep 2015  #354

haven't got a clue

I don't suspect any ill-will on her part, just a hasty reaction to a difficult problem. Here was an opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone: show how humanitarian today's Germany is (they've got a lot to live down Nazi-wise!) and provide cheap labour in face of the demographic crisis. Maybe some personal ambition came into it as well -- she would be regarded as a wise and generous statesperson (if that's what the femmies want it to be called?). It surelly was rash and ill-considered, as she failed to foresee the consequences. I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually leads to her resignation.

polonius3, I like your comment ''fool of the year or decade'' maybe we should get her to sit in the corner of the room, facing the wall, wearing a big pointy hat with a big D on the front.

It's a bit like I go to the bank and borrow zl1million, (refugees) after a week I realise, oh sh1t I can't pay it back, (deal with them) tell you what I'll share the pain of my mistake, all citizens of Wroclaw you have to give me zl20 each to get me out of this hole, think that might work?

Anyway, just remember, what goes around comes around, Merkel you will reap what you sow and be careful what you wish for.

Just to clarify something, the reinstated border control is NOT to stop people from crossing, but rather to register them at the border in order to give a heads up to reception centers and federal government.

The Oktoberfest is about to start

This is a serious matter and needs to be carefully thought over.

Cough..
I may have mis-quoted you - but......

Germany is right in all that is is trying to do - as we speak, some families, somewhere, right now- in the new "Europe" - are tramping throughout the night, totally exhausted, without real hope, dirty to the point of beyond embarrassment, without light, except from streetlights, without enough food, without sanitation...

The people who bark the loudest are a sizeable proportion of those I meet, for my living, the Lexus brigade....

Appalling people, and I have to prostitute my talents to them. I suppose this makes me as sad as them, and gives me a ready excuse....

Are you sure? I've read that Berlin now seems to have gone back to the Dublin convention and wants them to register in the first country (so Italy/Greece) before being allocated a country to go to. It's all a bit of a mess...

Germany is right

One may concede that Merkel was motivated by humniatrian compassion but it was misguided in that the many of the very hungry, tattered, unwashed, downtordden masses trudgingtheir way through mud to Germany may not achieve that better life after all. I enough of them come, and they certainly will, who will be able to accommodate them? They will then end up in makeshift refugee camps like those from which they fled in the ME. Everything has its saturation point -- the refugee onslaught as well. And remember, Frau Merkel, die Hölle ist gepaved mit guten Intentionen! (That's MIlwaukeedeutsch BTW)
