So the "deportation" was a smoke screen again. As expected.


Yeah, the British tabloids and their readers are famous for that.

It's the first time I've heard Daily Mail readers' online comments described as "cracking". Half of them are from people who say they supported UKIP and the other half are from people who would say that if only they could spell it.

Don't make the mistake to write them off as right-wing simpletons. Even though the comments are oftentimes extreme, they give a good indication of what's going in people's heads. It's dangerous to underestimate certain trends and developments in society.

What I've noticed on this issue. Although the media is incredibly biased and mostly doing it's darndest to make this sound like a great thing and create sympathy for the migrants.... people aren't buying it.

Anytime that comments are allowed the majority is asking uncomfortable questions about practical considerations like housing and work (since most appear to be completely unqualified) and how and when the tap can be turned off.

I think German Law is suited for a specific society type or quality. German authorities need to be honest and realize or more precisely admit they are dealing with different cultural norms.

German refugee laws combined with their overall welfare system is a disaster in the Age of Globalization. They need to be updated.

Easy to sneer at the voting classes but their comments indicates a healthy disrespect to totalitarian leaders who make decisions without due consultation.

Merkel, Blair, Junker, Cameron. They all get in by making false promises and lies and then betraying their own people by following other agendas.

These leaders need to be held to account and the daily mail is to be commended for at least publishing their readers comments.

Most newspapers do that - unfortunately the Daily Mail's are frequently foul, particularly where ethnicity is concerned. I doubt most of their readers vote anyway.

They do occasionally publish good articles, however the sheer amount of yellow journalism cancels it out.

And the Daily Mail readers' responses in their comments section to the humanitarian crisis is on a par with the usual hate-filled things they say, so not really indicative of anything except the fear of the unfamiliar long associated with DM readers.

Its called democracy and free speech Jon. These people are letting their feelings known in a peaceful way (is not roiting in the streets over "cartoons" and a range of other things that "offend" them.. and not anarchists or lunatics

Neither of those especially cherished by the editorial line of the DM and neither anything to do with mob rule or the lowest common denominator. What's the point of having an intellectual and political elite at all if we chose to decide public policy in response to the humanitarian crisis by knocking on Alf Garnett's door. The people who leave online comments in the Daily Mail - though it may be free (or rather unrestrained) speech, democracy it is emphatically not) would withhold even the alien corn from the refugees.

Like asking your char lady's opinion before you buy art.

Perhaps your reading skills are better suited to the anti-immigration squawking of the Daily Mail or other tabloids' online comment page.

What's the point of having an elite if they're so terrified of being called bigots that they refuse to put the interests of citizens first? Job number one of any government is too protect the interests of citizens and any charity needs to not interfere with that. No western European government seems to pass this simple test of competency.

Exactly. What do Westeners know about suffering? Compare our experience in WW2 with France's. Both of us were defeated in the same amount of time.

I visited several refugee processing centers together with colleagues from charity. Of course every big city has rundown areas!
