Some syrians did manage a decent life in these countries, but it's mostly because they found a good job, or because they are rich so they opened businesses or even relocated factories.

The solution to this whole terrorism problem is to discredit religions across the board. Starting in our own back yard. All the "I'll pray for you" legions need to learn that they can believe whatever the hell they want, but theirs is not the norm anyone should aspire to. Just as Muslims manage to keep all the reasonable, educated people around them silent, same thing is being done by catholics. And unless we are willing to stand up and put religion in people's private homes, where it belongs, and out of politics and public life, we have no right judging others and their beliefs. If somebody wants to believe that after they die they will go somewhere better and be reunited with their dead cat, or believe in do-overs, 21 virgins, or that praying will ward off their death, they should be too embarrassed to admit it publicly. It's time for science, logic and critical thinking to rule. THAT can unite us. Whether the rest of the world admits it or not, they still look up to the US, and if US had enough guts to place religion right along with aliens and zombies, it would free countless people around the world, people that are counted as religious just because the society seems to demand it.
