What is interesting area of central Serbia never was covered with glacial ice in last 70.000 years, as I read. Its that specific Balkan micro climate. Its clear continental climate with colder and warmer extremes then rest of Europe. We can only imagine what was life in European areas of glacial ice during Ice ages. On every 100 square km you could possible find one family. At that time Balkan was Ice age refugium and here lived 80% of European populace. People would here retreat and then again spread across Europe along rivers after Ice age was over. Some minor number in what is now south Spain and Crimea. Those areas also were spared of glacial ice.

Poland is safer since of today. That is important.
