Mercs is a luxury car in the States

That is why a lot of lower middle class drives them. When I was working in construction while in US, all our bosses used to drive mercs. It was funny to see 10 mercs parked in front of the company headquarters.

It was funny to see 10 mercs parked in front of the company headquarters.

Now it is Tesla's.
The Tesla plant in Germany alone is doubling in size from 500,000 cars a year to one million to be produced.
So be prepared for the American Tesla take over in Europe.

You'd better not write anything about electric cars

I hate them and will never own one if I can help it.
The vehicle I just bought is all gas powered and should last me the rest of my life.
I want to leave the biggest carbon footprint that I can.

It is OK with me provided they produce reliable cars coz that`s what I need.

I want to leave the biggest carbon footprint that I can.

Come on. Do you hate your kids and grandkids so much???

Now it is Tesla's.

I drive past this factory very often. However, the Tesla Model 3 that is produced there is not a luxury car, so it will not replace Mercedes.

Lexus dealers are where the smart meet the poor. Both groups don't have either the patience or the money to deal with repairs.

However, the Tesla Model 3 that is produced there is not a luxury car, so it will not replace Mercedes.

Wrong, Tesla is considered a luxury car.
The Tesla 3 like j.j. owns is at the low end of the Tesla's at around $35k so compare apples with apples.
The Tesla luxury car is the Tesla S which goes for over $100k.
Compare that model to ant Mercedes model.
The Tesla S does 0-60 in 2.3 seconds and the Mercedes ? (3.3 plus)
But unlike some established or older brands in the luxury industry like Mercedes, Tesla's luxury is geared toward its technology features.
More specifically, the electric drivetrain of Tesla surpasses nearly every competitor, offering more range than almost any other luxury car.
How much does it cost to replace a muffler system for a Mercedes vs. a Tesla ?
Oh, that's right, Tesla doesn't require an exhaust system.

Alien
28 Jul 2023  #1240

Tesla doesn't require an exhaust system.

Which does not mean that its repairs are cheap. On the contrary, replacing the bumper in a Mercedes it costs 3500 €, replacing a bumper in a Tesla can easily cost 30000 €. Ask mechanics why?

Tesla S does 0-60 in 2.3 seconds and the Mercedes ? (3.3 plus)

It's a fact, but after a few such accelerations, the electronics will slow it down to save electricity and Mercedes accelerates the same to the last drop of gasoline. In addition, to this day I meet many Mercedes on highways in Germany that drive 200 km/h and more, but all Teslas drive 110-120 km/h. Why, because they save electricity to get to their destination. It's pathetic.

It's pathetic.

That's why I will never have a car that runs on batteries. I have enough problems with my phones and remotes.

Ask mechanics why?

Ask me.
Because Elon is a very smart man.
That is why he dropped the prices and flooded the market with used Tesla's like j.j. bought.
He will make his money back and more on parts.

Mercedes accelerates the same to the last drop of gasoline.

Or until they need new spark plugs. Oh wait, Tesla doesn't have spark plugs.

Why, because they save electricity to get to their destination. It's pathetic.

Yes, a 120 mph is plenty fast on our interstates to be eco friendly.
You Germs don't seem to care about the enviroment or other peoples safety driving aat 200 mph.
And how many people in Germany realty drive that fast all the time ?
We have a car called the Chevy Corvette that will easily match your Mercedes luxury cars top speed.
Give it up Allien, I have some stocks to trade before the close here.
Did I mention that my TESLA stock is up over $10 a share today ? Hoot !

Nope and the electric cars cost more to drive but that is being kept hush hush until it's to late.
I know where I live above the 45th parallel, nobody wants them.
Doesn't stop biden and his cohorts from jamming them down our throats so they can get rich from the kickbacks.

On the contrary, replacing the bumper in a Mercedes it costs 3500 €, replacing a bumper in a Tesla can easily cost 30000 €. Ask mechanics why?

Elon makes a lot of money selling access to the Tesla entertainment systems and superchargers.
Used Tesla buyers will simply add to a growing pool of people who will be paying Elon a lot of money for services and high priced body parts when they have an accident. So Elon is right when he doesn't give a rip what people pay for used Tesla's.

Every Tesla on the road, regardless of the price it was bought at, makes money for the company.
Elon is a brilliant businessman and is outthinking every other car company and the vast majority of analysts.
Start paying attention, Alien. :-)

high priced body parts when they have an accident

It's not just about the bumper itself, which can be even cheaper than from Mercedes. The point here is that after every major accident, damage to the drive batteries must be ruled out, and in the event of the slightest doubt, they must be replaced, otherwise there is a risk of fire. And it costs a lot of money.

johnny reb
1 Aug 2023  #1248

And it costs a lot of money.

Exactly with the point being that TESLA is making a boat load of money on repairs and not new car sales.
The difference between Mercades and Tesla is: TSLA is very different...... No dealers to siphon off profit, No dealers to set pricing policy, A very slimmed down service setup that makes money for TSLA, not dealers like Mercedes does.

Educate yourself Alien because I can't do it for free anymore.
Right now Tesla is in the process of installing charging stations across the country to charge their semi trucks.
The Tesla Semi has the largest advertised range of 500 miles with a target 80% charge in 30 minutes.
How many of electric Semi trucks does Mercedes have cruising around Germany ?
How many charging stations do they have for them to charge in 30 minutes ?
Tesla is way ahead of the game. Alien.

They can take their EV's and stick them.
It's way to cold where I live to even think about owning one in the winter when it is minus -25*F. (-32 C)

However I have done very well on Tesla stock.
dolno retired on Tesla stock !
I just got back into Tesla stock last month at $250 per share.
Lets see how I will be doing in three months from now.

Unfortunately, I don't know what MPG and MPH are, but I know that we were in Legnica on a trip yesterday and my convertible consumed an average of 6.1 l/100 km on the cruise control. With such low petrol consumption, who needs an electric car?

MPG= Miles per Gallon
MPH= Miles per hour.

At 70 mph, my mpg is 30.

Thats mega good,I have never owned a car in the last 30 years that has given me over 22/25 MPG

So in 1251 you wrote that you were going 130 mph. I thought you weren't allowed to drive that fast.

I thought you weren't allowed to drive that fast

You thought right,I risked a ticket and arrest for that speed which is double then the limit, but I kept my eyes open for an undercover trooper car which is mostly easy to spot and there plate numbers usually start with "SG"State govt vehicles). Also if you are polite to the trooper and have a family PBA card(a courtesy card for the families of the law enforcement people) which usually gets you a warning or a reduced ticket mostly for moving violations lol and then you can go to the court and make a deal with the prosecutor for a higher fine for a non moving violation.

Plus its hard for the troopers to give you a speeding ticket on the highway with other cars as they have to clock you, they can only do it when they follow you or you are the only car going. So if you are changing lanes frequently they give you careless driving or reckless driving ticket also I knew when there are least troopers that time of the day when they have shift change:) also I have a radar system in the car that tells you that there is a speed check ahead.

BTW I used "Yandex" in Poland for radars.

The advantage of living in Germany is that here you can still do it legally. I've ridden the Berliner Ring at 150 mph and I'm still not the fastest. But nowadays most Germans respect the recommended speed 80mph. So do I.
