I may think that something is wrong, for example, but why do you want me to be personally ashamed? (just asking)

When Britain does/ or, as in this case, doesn't do things, I feel ashamed to be British. Like when Cameron made the comment about Poles being on benefits....

Poles on the other hand, have developed this very nasty concept of being arrogant and never apologising.

And Paulina - are these or are they not comments regarding the Syria problem/refugees and the Paris atrocity? By and large from real people, but some from Putin's people no doubt.... I fear you didn't look very hard.

Use the 'Posted In' link to find this thread. It has not disappeared; you've been a member for 6 years and cannot find your own posts

Very funny. The thread wasn't there when I looked for it.

The Guardian is the bastion of free and uncensored liberal speech

That's your interpretation - that they are too lazy.

Lazy. A disclaimer is all that is necessary. And a team to remove the offending posts. Like I said, they are kow-towing to the establishment and denying free speech.

The point with the Guardian and their ilk is that "the message" is NEVER censored. Simple, innit?

I'm not sure what you mean... What "message"?

When posters write on the guardian boards, their post in not edited. (unless it is defamatory) So readers get what they are saying - in full, the whole "message" or message, in fact.....

What have I got to be arrogant about?

Oh I could find quite a few quotes by you on this very forum :)

Go on then, give us some.

And Slavs are selfish

I don't know about Slavs in general, or jews, but your new government is already being incredibly arrogant. Ask the liberal European press.

What you mean is, you find their view of the world to be non-offensive and in line with your lily white world.

I wonder, would you write the same thing to a Jewish woman, for example?

Sorry, I don't understand that. Are you suggesting I am attacking you as a Polish woman? Am I supposed to be soft and polite, because you are a woman?

There are people suffering out there and Poland didn't even offer a zloty to those camps in Serbia.

And, btw, why do you people have such a great need for other people to be ashamed?

So you are not ashamed of what your government is doing? Then either you support them, or you are an anarchist.
"Sitting on the fence is a dangerous course...." Well, you might know the rest of the Dire Straits lyrics........

RMF newfeed: "Poland was the ONLY EU state not to offer assistance to the Serbian camps".

If RMF are lying then the ombudsman will have a field day.

you've been posting the mantra for years now and it seems you've been here more often than others do

Yea, now you're just showing yourself to be a liar. But we knew that anyway.

Polonophobia

Some geebag accused me of that...err, why would I live here, marry a Pole and have Polish kids then? Ya see that's what you're up against here, brain-dead assclowns with the intelligence of fly larvae.

It's like this, I'm against all kinds of phobias on this forum, Polonophobia....it it really a thing?....homophobia, all racism, sexism etc. I just don't think that the mods/admins have ever really given a sh!t about not allowing such posts. Content is king here and so long as people are posting that's all they care about. And that sucks.

Paulina, Slavs aren't a race, ethnic group within a race, yes, but not a race, nice try though :D

Why wouldn't Smurf be capable of having a "great evening?"

I don't know, every time I see him here he is unhappy and moaning about something.

You are quite the keyboard warrior Wulkan

Not as much as you are, I write much less posts here and they are also short, more to the point. Unlike you always writing long angry essays that very few have patience to read.

I think moderation on this forum is very good at the moment. Finally they got it right, no prefect thought, but it is due to two fundaments upon which the PF had been created - stay on topic and stick to Poland or Polish realised issues.
It is simple enough to understand.

There are a lot of things I don't like in Poland (like for instance

and old women underwear for some reason is on the top of your list, things you disliked in Poland. Hmm I wouldn't know what smallclothes old women in Poland are wearing neither I have interest to learn. I think your obsession with old women panties is bizarre to say the lest but who am I to judge.
Other than that you are a quite inconsequential poster, although you are very observant when in comes to the everyday life small details. When you are trying to draw some conclusion or generalisation you 9 times out of 10 are getting it all wrong.
Just stick with gossip my dear.

There are some arrogant or chauvinistic

Paulina I wouldn't worry about usual clowns on PF. We all know who they are and what they are, I wouldn't even bother to point it out but I'm doing it for the benefit of unsuspected reader who might stumble upon PF and will take progressive, snobbish, ignorant or racist based posts about issues in Poland on its face value.

Asking those twerps to take a good look at themselves in the mirror is a simply waste of time as they display holier than thou self-righteous mentality.
Dougpol1,

Him? Arrogant? He is an insecure little man with many issues, who are talking all those little porkies about himself on PF to look larger than life and is inconsistent as a leaky water closet.
According to him he is in Poland 20, 25 or 30 years.
He live in the North or in the South, alternatively when pressed in two places at the same time - in a manor, which sometimes is one of many.
He claim to know Polish fluently but doesn't write in Polish, when Wulkan wanted to talk via Sky he inventing some lame excuses all the time.
He is berating Poles for displacing national pride but at the same time he is weaving a little British pride of his own whenever it suits him.
There are much more but the bottom line is he is yet another poster here you better ignore.
I only wonder he claimed to came to Poland in the mid 80' doing some business - evidently with communist secret police, I wonder what kind of a deal has been struck.
The Guardian is the bastion of free and uncensored liberal speech

Other than being financed and influenced by the KGB at one time or the other. I'm sure that still have the right connections.

Very true! :)

Did you vote for Cameron?

No, it's the British that developed this very nasty concept of being arrogant and never apologising.
And now prove me wrong :)

Dougpol, what are you even talking about? All Poles are arrogant? About what? They "never" apologise? For what exactly?

And Paulina - are these or are they not comments regarding the Syria problem/refugees and the Paris atrocity? By and large from real people, but some from Putin's people no doubt.... I fear you didn't look very hard.

I just entered The Guardian site and picked a random article from the main page - no comment section under the article (unless I'm blind or sth):
theguardian.com/world/2015/nov/16/france-intensify-airstrikes-isis-syria-francois-hollande

It didn't occur to me to enter the opinion section. Not all the articles from the main page are over there, however. Why is that? In Polish online press every article gets comment section by default. Weird...

Lazy. A disclaimer is all that is necessary. And a team to remove the offending posts. Like I said, they are kow-towing to the establishment and denying free speech.

Maybe they're lazy. Or maybe they don't have enough people to check and delete offensive posts. Or maybe they are such sensitive and tolerant people that they just can't stand the fact that their comments section is used to spread hate, etc. I don't know, I'm not in their heads. You just assumed that they're lazy right the way.
You know, I knew a bit the Polish-Russian scene in their comment section and the moderators and this forum was always accused either by Russians of being Russophobic because in their minds they were allowing Russophobic comments or by Polish Russophobes of censorship because they were deleting posts that were considered hate speech. At some point one could think that there's no moderation at all (at that time you could report comments and often only then they were deleted - or at least that was my impression) and some people had problems with that too. I guess you can't please everyone...

When posters write on the guardian boards, their post in not edited. (unless it is defamatory) So readers get what they are saying - in full, the whole "message" or message, in fact.....

That's nothing unusual - at least not on Polish internet.

Go on then, give us some.

Not today, Dougpol1, it's too late and I'm too tired.

I don't know about Slavs in general, or jews, but your new government is already being incredibly arrogant. Ask the liberal European press.

Can't say I'm a fan of the new government, ahem, to put it midly, but what are they being arrogant about?
And, btw, you think Western media and Western leaders aren't capable of being arrogant? Don't you think that's the way they could be viewed during all this refugee crisis? Merkel, for example?

Sorry, I don't understand that. Are you suggesting I am attacking you as a Polish woman?

Well, with all that "Miss Lily White" you are being a bit condescending, but that's not what I meant.
I meant that if I were Jewish/Muslim/black or any other "untouchable" by Western standards I wouldn't, most probably, get the comment from you that I got. But of course you wouldn't be writing any arrogant, chauvinistic comments about Jews/Muslims/blacks/etc. and their countries in the first place and so I wouldn't have a reason to criticise you as a Jewish/Muslim/black person, etc. etc.

Am I supposed to be soft and polite, because you are a woman?

No, I would like you to be objective and not prejudiced because I'm a human being, just like Jews/Muslims/blacks/etc.

So you are not ashamed of what your government is doing?

To be honest, I don't even know what they're doing yet, I had other things on my mind, so it's difficult to say anything about my feelings since I don't have any atm. And I wasn't voting for them anyway - I pretty much detest PiS. When they were in power previously I barely watched the news because I couldn't stand listening to them or even looking at them lol

Then either you support them,

Nope, it doesn't mean that.

or you are an anarchist.

Well, I'm a Pole, am I not :D

"Sitting on the fence is a dangerous course...." Well, you might know the rest of the Dire Straits lyrics........

What "nice try"? I didn't claim that Slavs are a race.

Yes, that's my impression too...

I don't troll. I say what I feel. If anybody should put up, it's you. After 23 years paying taxes and high end ZUS here I feel an entitlement. Do I have your permission to comment?

LOL. Now if I wasn't going to be banned I could now be extremely rude, so run along.

Dougpol1

Did you vote for Cameron

I would never vote for Cameron. Probably I would have to non-vote, as I couldn't stomach Corbyn either. Anyway, when you have lived abroad for a period of time your right to vote in Britain lapses. Which is correct. I suggest Poland does the same.

It's the British that developed this very nasty concept of being arrogant and never apologising.
And now prove me wrong :)

Well, we do have something as a nation to be arrogant about, or so the nationalist Victorians thought. Seriously though, at least British politicians are advised on the language of diplomacy, and try not to make gaffes on a daily basis which only antagonise. It isn't rocket science.

Dougpol, what are you even talking about? All Poles are arrogant? About what? They "never" apologise? For what exactly?

For Martial Law. For shooting people dead on the streets? For being caught with their trousers down (metaphorically...) To quote yourself, "It's getting late, and I'm too tired to give details...") Girl, you know it's true:)

It didn't occur to me to enter the opinion section. Not all the articles from the main page are over there, however. Why is that? In Polish online press every article gets comment section by default. Weird...

A bit like this forum then, with everything moved to OT. But...... the secret is, comment is listed on the Guardian site under "OPINION". That's the clue:)

I assume correctly.

Can't say I'm a fan of the new government, ahem, to put it midly, but what are they being arrogant about?

Behave yourself Paulina. 99 per cent of the time I admire your intellect and level-headedness..... the list of PIS arrogance is as long as this night time...

And, btw, you think Western media and Western leaders aren't capable of being arrogant? Don't you think that's the way they could be viewed during all this refugee crisis? Merkel, for example?

Merkel has earned her spurs and done great things for Germany and the EU. She faced down Putin. Polish leaders have no right to be arrogant. In my book she can do no wrong, and the Germans will back her. Watch this space.

Well, with all that "Miss Lily White" you are being a bit condescending, but that's not what I meant.

It was rude - I apologise, not for the first time. Sorry.

I meant that if I were Jewish/Muslim/black or any other "untouchable" by Western standards I wouldn't, most probably, get the comment from you that I got. But of course you wouldn't be writing any arrogant, chauvinistic comments about Jews/Muslims/blacks/etc. and their countries in the first place and so I wouldn't have a reason to criticise you as a Jewish/Muslim/black person, etc. etc.

Well, I was attacking Poles for their abject and embarassing lack of concern, not catholics. In the same way, I will attack the Israelis, but not jews. Of course, I live among catholics, so sometimes, yes, their sheep like mentality gets on my nerves, but nothing more really.

Nope, I don't know it.

Of course you know what this government are doing. They will soon be going on a witch-hunt. Isn't it obvious? To (boringly) misquote one great leader of the past, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but how they are going to go about tucking you up the ass"

RMF newfeed: "Poland was the ONLY EU state not to offer assistance to the Serbian camps".

brain-dead assclowns with the intelligence of fly larvae.

So says someone who can't even speak his native language - Irish.

Why wouldn't Smurf be capable of having a "great evening?"

I don't know, every time I see him here he is unhappy and moaning about something.

Smurf ALWAYS moans about Poland and the 'Polish way' of doing things. The reasons for this are deeply-rooted and subconscious with Wulkan having helped me, somewhat indirectly, to comprehend them. Smurf cannot speak the native language of his nation - the Irish language. In place of it, his mother tongue is English. Loosing Irish as their language and adopting a new one, the language of the colonial power which once oppressed them, may result in a kind of compensational feeling whose character depends on circumstances. Smurf's circumstances - he lives in Poland and has a Polish wife - strongly tend to favor polonophobia as a sort of compensational feeling. He is subconsciously jealous of the Polish people who - despite many years of forced germanization and russification - kept their language in contrast to his own folk who in their vast majority have not managed to do that. Smurf's polonophobia nicely reconciles his two contrasting subconscious feelings - the feeling of guilt for loosing the Irish language on one hand, and the feeling of jealousy that a folk among whom he lives now retained it on the other.

I won't be much surprised if Smurf denies the above and as further 'compensation' says something not particularly nice about me as one of the folk that have managed to keep Polish as their native language. Nevertheless, I will say something about the roots of Dougpol1's polonophobia as well as the polonophobia of InPolska next as soon as I have more time. Both cases can be fairly easy explained in Freudian terms, but the case of Smurf was really the most difficult one to explain and it was in fact Wulkan who has given me the necessary clue.

Go to any Polish language forum about Britain, Ireland, whenever and tell us the reverse never happens in scads.

It most certainly does. However, what is more amusing is when the Polish community in the UK splits into two halves. I remember a brilliant example when a Polish man posted asking why so many Polish women in the UK are not interested in Polish men in the UK!

No, Moderators here didn`t bring shame to the name of Poland that stay as part of this forum`s name.

Crow I agree with your comments, I wouldn't be able to moderate this lot, just trying to keep on top of each thread and moving things into the correct places would give me blisters on my fingers, plus i couldn't cope with many of the personal attacks that the moderators come under.
