There's about 110 million now, no real economy there and the population growing fast.
Egypt is massive.
Makes me wonder, how do Egyptians feel about some desert Saudis claiming the mantle of leadership in the Arab world?
It must already be pretty awkward for the Egyptians to have to come to the Saudis begging for handouts to plug holes in their budget.
I bet, Egypt wouldn't mind doing a Saddam and annexing KSA - hehe.
Sort of off topic, but Egypt has always had a massive population. For the longest time, Constantinople and Cairo were the two biggest cities in the world (which is why Ottoman power pretty much doubled after they destroyed the Mamelukes). In antiquity, Alexandria was the second largest city after Rome. Like the Ganges in India, the Nile has always supported huge populations.
