I'd love it - instead of having to deal with paperwork and so on, I could just post my views online and get paid, legitimately!

Well Pawian I suppose we give each other the creeps on Political issues. I live in Britain where I go for the conservative party but I prefer the PiS style of conservative [while I assume you and others on here would not mind if the party in charge of Poland had a British conservative style]. If Britain was led by a PiS like party I would care a lot more, but it would probably be a very different place to live in. As it goes I am a conservative but I only see them as slightly better than Labour, but only slightly, since on some issues I disagree with them. PiS has Labour-esc type views in regards to finance and social issues but yet tries to make ties with the British conservatives. Sort of weird in that regard.

Look, the funniest thing in it is that I am also conservative because of my age and antiquated views on so many things. :):):) But the main problem is that I prefer to support those brighter and enlightened conservatives. PiS, due to their idiotic pranks, certainly cannot be included into that group. E.g., do you remember how many causes of Smolensk air crash were provided by PiS to cover their terrorist act agenda?????

Experts are trying to predict how the death of Kaczyński`s mother is going to affect him.

Two options are possible - Kaczyński will either give up politics and withdraw to the quiet seclusion of his home in Warsaw or quite the opposite, he will become an even more active politician who always fights till the last minute and never relinquishes.

In my opinion, the second option is more probable. He isn`t able to withdraw, he is a born fighter and destroyer, politics is all his life and he is still only 64.

Hey, you watched Sexmission too often! The film contains this motto in initial credits.

That film was on Polish television again not long ago. That was one unique, messed up yet very enjoyable movie. A lot of Polish films get branded as boring, and they are, but not this. Anyway, just a little off topic though. I wonder if Jarek now gets accused by the mainstream media of using this death for politics, as he was of doing with the crash. Almost anything he says, he will be accused of 'playing politics.'

You notice he did not say 'physically'. His accusation are easy to prove. The visit fo Poland's head of state was was visibly ingored and belittled by the tuskite establishmetn which was hoping the turn the even into a Vlad & Donny show. The idea that he may not get a Russian visa was even floated and thrashed about in the media, although heads of state do not normally stand in visa queues. Then the Russian side grudgingly agreed to let them land at an obsolete, disused military airport where even the landing lights were not working. FIlm clips showed workers hurriedly replacing the burnt-out bulbs... after the disaster. People still remember Tusk's Brussels summit antics when he tried to belittle President Kaczyński with his silly little plane and chair games.

Funny how you overlook the fact that Russian air traffic control told the Polish plane that there were no conditions for landing but the Polish pilot decided to go below his cleared minimum, his qualified minimum and the plane's cleared minimum. Oh, and how you overlook the fact that the pilot of the Polish plane was the pilot of that plane because the Kaczyński had fired the previous pilot when that pilot refused to land at an airport which lacked the necessary equipment.

The only 'silly little plane and chair games' were played by the lame Kaczynski who turned up uninvited to the embarrassment of all concerned.

Decrepit Smolensk airport should nothave been even considered. The Russians should have arranged to have the plane land at a decent, fully equipped airport. But they were too busy trying to sabiotage the preisdential delegaition with visa nonsense to do something sensible. Who knows if Tusk didn't put them up to it: Hey mates, why not have the plane land at some ramshackle air strip to make our head of state look ridiculous! Vlad would like that!

The Poles never requested to go to one. International protocol requires a formal request to do such a thing - but then, that ruins your story doesn't it? Don't forget that it's highly unlikely that a man like Lech Kaczynski would want to fly into Vnukovo - which according to Google Maps is 4 hours away from Katyn.

The airport was actually acceptable *if* conditions had been clear. The Tupolev 154 was designed to land at all sorts of runways - so on a clear day, Smolensk-North would actually have been fine.

No.one knows all the behind-the-scenes preparations. Probably there were shortcomings on all sides. But the fact is that Tusk did not want to be upstaged at the launch of the Vlad & Donny show. Go back and check out his statemtns, moves, grimaces and the general climate of negativity he created round the planned visit of Polands' Head of State to Katyń. And don't forget the humiliating visa business.

Indeed - and the lame Kaczyński's behaviour was very well publicised at home and abroad at the time. I'm surprised Pol3 doesn't remember. Perhaps he prefers to forget that the media were laughing at the lame Kaczyński and Poland over the whole fiasco.

We know that there was a shocking amount of negligence on the Polish side - even if you look at the preparations, it was an utter shambles.
