All manner of supply restrictions starting with Sunday trading, extra retail taxes, massive political fines on supermarkets that are passed on to consumers
Extra taxes on banks that are passed on to business and consumers
Lockdowns
Creation of monopolies by PiS controlled "private" companies
Reduction of municipal budgets in big towns leading to increase in parking costs, refuse costs, local taxes
Increases in ZUS charges for business - passed on to consumers

That is just from 2 minutes thought and they are all pure PiS decisions

If you don't know how to get out of the inflation, shut up instead of barking and howling at the government - you economic genius

Funny you mention income, cleverly " omitting" expenses.

The issue is not with 2014 - it is the change to the funding method in 2021

That is just one demonstration of the underlying issue of public finances in Poland - that PiS want a smaller and smaller portion of "rich" taxpayers to fund their electoral kielbasa - after 6 years the well is dry.

Mr Kacz has just said that Western Europeans will come to Poland to pick asparagus. Also, he added that Polish minimum pay is better than its equivalents in US or Germany.

Also, he falsely claimed that PiS lowered taxes.

Excellent list. The wages being increased when we already have inflation is going to drive retail pricing through the roof next year. This inflation today, will be prolonged for another year do to wage increases, consumer price increases, and there will be less hiring because of the wage and business cost increases. In January why would I hire someone new at 3250 per month when I can ask a little more of a current employee and bump their pay 1000 or 1500 a month?

PiS is an economic joke. Increased income for Warsaw? That income is derived from citizens increased costs to live in Warsaw, and increased numbers of people living in Warsaw. Income is not an indicator of economic health. The US has the largest GDP in the world and the country is a mess having the largest debt in the world.

Imagine getting a job in January at the new minimum wage of 3250. Where are you going to get a flat, and eat on that money in this inflation? It wont be in Warsaw thats for sure. And if its not in Warsaw, do you think you are going to find a job like this in a smaller city that has no real upward mobility? If you get stuck in Lodz how do you get out of Lodz making 3250? Because rent may be cheaper, but food costs will not be that much less.

The economic disaster can only be cured by the government actually taking all those profits from state owned business, and putting them back into the country instead of paying each other five different executive salaries for various board positions. State owned companies can not pay people like they are private companies. The theft in government is amazing. Just the other day, three more military people in Krakow arrested for fraud, bringing the total to 45 or something. And these are the little fish. Something has to change, free money isnt free forever.

it's part of the EU treaties, every country that is part of the EU needs to join the failed and disfunctional euro and a common monetery system (which only benefits germany at the cost of millions in poverty) PiS is the party that demands sovereignty ie real freedom and leeway for Poland. I don't think Tusk should be running the country either. He will be an EU coxucker like never before. Poland needs a realist at the helm not an idealist. PiS is idealist, so is Tusk. The two sides are so far apart and its why the country is divided. There has to be someone who can lead a strong nationalistic approach combined with an open economic policy somewhere in the country. Immigration policies of PiS and some of the other policies are clearly what the majority of the people want, while the economic policies are truly a disaster, but I don't see Tusk or anyone else talking about real sound economic policy either. Very frustrating to see so much potential going unfulfilled.

IF you let the Zloty weaken while luring in more foreign investment from the US and EU, those strong currencies coming in go further and make it more attractive to invest. But when you combine a falling zloty with mandated rising wages and self induced inflation you have a market where foreign investment is not going to be attractive because any savings on the zloty are eaten up by increased wages. PiS has no clue about this. They do not know how to sell Poland outside of Poland.

So a yes / no question for you to consider over your barbecued shrimp - do you think this should be indexed ? i.e. should it become 700 plus ? Because that is what PiS are thinking of and it would be a pure inflationary move

It is neither good or bad, it all dependes on all other factors and policies.

That would mean a jump from the frying pan into the fire coz those nationalists are crazier than PiS.

But rising wages is important for economy. Countries with high wages like Luxemburg or Swiss are rich.

Wages can not be arbitrarily raised simply because someone thinks they should be raised. All Polish wage increases are being offset by raising all pricing at retail. This raises ZUS which in turn raises costs again. High wages can not just happen. And wages are not a sign of wealth. US pays $20 an hour for people to work at McDonalds which would be about where the minimum Polish wage will be in January. But the cost of living in Poland is nowhere near that of living in the US. Cost of living in Poland is incredibly low compared to many countries.

500 plus would be great if only people who could demonstrate a financial need received it. Wealthy people getting it is simply wrong, but they do and its automatic. If the banks owned and operated by Poland had fixed interest rates on all loans, people would be in a lot better shape right now. If the government owned utility and fuel companies were not going after record profits on the back of the people, the people would be in better shape. If the government were not robbing the people blind, the people would be in better shape.

It will take a heavy hand to fix the problems in Poland and the worst is not even here yet. Wait till we get to next spring, then you will see people really struggling.

But minimal wages can and even should be arbitrarily raised because in Poland at least 30% people earns minimal wages and in my firma in Germany even 60%. Have you heard of sozial peace?

10 years ago the number of people on Krajowy Miniumum was much lower - about 3 percent of the workforce. Most employers wanted to pay a bit more than the minimum.

But the governments (starting with PO) kept increasing minimum wage at a quicker rate than productivity gains. And under PiS this just got out of hand - employers couldn't keep up and now 25-30 percent of the workforce are on the minimum wage and effectively get their wages set by govt, just like in PRL times.

The big increases after the pandemic were a really bad idea (one if many that Koscinski had) and overall the wage increases are the biggest contributor to inflation right now.

Comparing to Switzerland, Luxembourg and Germany isn't going to help - they are established democracies with rule of law, less cronyism and stronger currencies so it will be easier for them to borrow money and they are safer for investors, which is one reason there are so many banks there.

The response to people who want to make more money is that they should get a second job. I worked three jobs in high school and college. Never had a day off, and I live the lifestyle I want to live. Work gets you paid, sitting around waiting to earn more while not working more is a slave mentality.

yep 100 percent in agreement, 500+ needs to be means tested and only available to polish citizens, that would cud down the cost by a few billion zloty.

the upper middle class and above in the big cities are never going to vote for PiS anyway, (know through direct experience from my family) so why even try and bribe them with some crumbs of 500+. it's a social welfare program and it needs to be targeted at the poor/working class/lower middle class.

Mr Kacz goes around Poland and meets his supporters. However, dozens of police officers have to protect him from angry citizens. In Kórnik, he was so scared of the protesters (who shouted Fekk PiS among others) that he left the meeting through the back door. Amasing!

PS. The pay time has come. PiS activists and supporters have been doing it for years to the opposition, now the roles have reversed. Excellent!

According to the Polish politician, Donald Tusk, the former president of the European People's Party, would be used for this.

However, this did not happen that way - they say in the article.

To this, Kaczyński now said that this is enough, there are no more compromises.

"They want to rob us of our independence, our freedom, cynical speculators would like to make a lot of money by switching to the euro.

The independence of the Polish judiciary is only mentioned as an excuse, in fact they want to destroy the Polish rule of law in order to weaken the country," he said.

According to Kaczyński, "Germany is striving for world power"

According to Kaczyński, Brussels is only a side character, Berlin wants to gain world power, and for this they are using the leader of the opposition, former Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the former president of the European Council and the European People's Party, who, according to him, is working at the behest of the Germans.
