Nobody in the West believes anything anymore that comes from Russian officials. Nobody. Not since Putin lied to Macron's and Scholz's face and then afterwards on press conferences. We have a party in Germany called the Left party, which is the successor party of the SED who was behind dictatorship in the GDR. Those guys have in the past excused anything Russia did. Syria, Crimea, Donbass, Nawalny, you name it. Their most prominent members went to German talkshows announced hours before Russia invaded confidently that Putin was just bluffing and that he only wanted to negotiate. Now after some soulsearching, even they come around to call Putin a liar and a war criminal. You would not be able to convince even those stooges with your propaganda anymore.

There was a lot of goodwill towards Russia in Germany. And even those like myself who were more sceptical still thought that constant engagement with Putin and economic interdepence would assure peace, since surely Putin would not act so irrational and against his own countries' interests? Turns out he can, because he does not care about his countries prosperity, he just wants to be remembered as the conqueror of Kiev. By doing that he destroyed all the trust that once existed, decades of diplomacy and trade, all the fruits of the Ostpolitik. In Germany we are shocked, angry, but also disappointed. Aside from the cynicism of your lies, they sound like the promises of a better half who broke your heart one time to many and now tries to convince you that she changed. In other words, futile.

This is not our problem, nor your problem. It is problem of Mr. Nobody and their worshippers.

Not true JR. Could be Syrian's going to fight though, they hate Russians too. Today I saw Italian soldiers walking with bags heading to the train station to go to Ukraine. They are saying more than 20,000 volunteers are going to fight. Citizenship on the table for those going.
