Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades

Miloslaw

Name one revolution that did not replace one set of tyrants with a new set.

The American Revolution.... (shouldn't you know that one?)

The Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia...

And though they were not really revolutions, more like uprisings, the whole of eastern europe circa 1989.

can compare (for example) how looked small villages in Tver region in 1990's and how it looked now.

It could be great, but total manufacturing output in Russia still has to exceed 1990 level and present corruption index is somewhere between Cote-d'Ivoire and Nigeria...

Corruption index by country. Russia is behind Mali and Malawi. And far behind Ivory Coast.

Can you simply tell who builds this index, and which sources of data they refer to?

I suspect that in such "compilations" PITA caused by particular country to politicians of hosting country have more weight compared to real corruption situation. ;)

You have no clue about the US.

The greatest thing about Russia is their inferiority complex to the rest of the world. As a nation they will cheat even in the Olympics by doping because they are so desperate to be seen as a successful nation. They are desperate for the worlds attention. When people want to return to what was the USSR, and those are seen as the good old days, you have a real problem and distorted view of reality.

He will be the laughing stock of the world if he retreats...

All the West has to do to diffuse the situation is to sign an agreement that they will not accept an application to NATO from Ukraine.

I wonder what would the US do if Putin decided to have a replay of Cuba in 1962 - this time with Venezuela. From there, a hypersonic missile could reach NY in 10 minutes.

sign an agreement that they will not accept an application to NATO from Ukraine.

Because Putin says so? Its about time NATO says NO to the neighbor bully and stands up to this thug. If he invades it will cost him dearly and he knows it.

None of this would be happening if Trump were still in office. Biden is a weak feckless old man.

Putin is trying to protect his country from threats that don't really exist - this is called paranoia

That will never happen.

Agreed.

I have an idea. Make an animated movie showing NATO vs the Warsaw Pact map. Start on the day the Warsaw Pact dissolved in 1991. Then tell us all about Russian "paranoia".

gumishu
11 Feb 2022  #674

Then tell us all about Russian "paranoia".

yeah half of Russia was swallowed by NATO - wait, Russia wasn't attacked and is the same size as in 1991 - so where's the threat?

Novichok
11 Feb 2022  #675

Stupid me... Russia should wait until the enemy troops can see Moscow without binoculars.

Velund
11 Feb 2022  #676

Russia has not been attacked

...yet. But the time to reach Moscow and other important cities from NATO bases is getting shorter and shorter. And I can say for sure - there is a better chance that Ukraine will cease to exist as a state than nuclear missiles will be deployed somewhere near Kharkov, even theoretically...

I get the impression that most people here on this forum judge Russia by the same sources of information that British politicians use - that is, the tabloid press, in which sensational news is composed without leaving their offices (and why bother to go into detail when any dissonance is met with a hostile response from the public?) ;)

So once again I'd like to issue a warning that will once again be ignored - this same press has created an image of a certain virtual Russia that doesn't correspond to the real world. You have been fcuked over for years, and now politicians are making decisions based on this made-up reality. Most of their lunatic actions cannot be explained by anything else. So much the worse for those who elect such an elite (the voters will have to pay the bill, don't expect anyone else to pay for you, even if you were too lazy to go to the polls or allowed the results to be tampered with).

And another thing... Russia has long tried to be relatively polite, but the Anglo-Saxons have proven time and again that there are no gentlemen (and ladies) among them ;) Any concession was interpreted as a show of weakness and led to attempts at more pressure. So you might have to experience how an opponent who came to a chess match with his deck of poker cards feels after a direct boxing blow to the jaw. ;) In fact, why not do the same to a "partner" who is used to changing the rules as the game progresses.

We were amused by the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, who in one fell swoop withdrew the U.S. President's signature on the Yalta accords. But the visit of the British foreign minister did not amuse us any more - it finally became clear that Western politicians live in their virtual world and are not really interested in the real one. It will be all the more painful to fly out into the harsh reality.

Western politicians live in their virtual world and are not really interested in the real one.

Neither are the posters here. K-Mart-level slogans are all they need. Here are the top four: Russia is evil. Putin is evil. NATO is nice. NATO protects our freedoms; especially in Afghanistan. Can you get me a beer, hon?

Velund, I am glad you are back.

I get the impression that most peopl

I get the impression you are as paranoid as Putin about perceived threats to Russia

also Russia signed an agreement in 1991 that guaranteed existence of Ukraine in her then borders at the price of Ukraine surrendering its nuclear arsenal - seems like Russia is no gentleman either

not to mention the Russian intervention in Georgia where they bombed the international airport and destroyed port facilities in Batumi - true Russian gentelmen

That is the slimiest kind of argument - insinuating that the guy you disagree with or don't like is mentally ill.

also Russia signed an agreement in 1991

...but they didn't say that they will welcome and embrace the 2014 "uprising".
So here is my question: Did anybody from the West aid and abet the 2014 events? A simple yes or no will do fine.

Velund
11 Feb 2022  #680

not to mention the Russian intervention in Georgia

It seems that in your virtual world some facts are not visible to the naked eye. For example, the Georgian army's attack on Russian peacekeepers, where they were stationed, and the shelling of the city of Tskhinvali. Only then was it decided to kick the ass of the brave Georgian soldiers, and only political decisions kept the Russian army from completely cleansing Tbilisi of the "elite" that thinks too much of themselves.

But you are only told things that do not fall out of the canons of the Western virtual world. The evil bear came, and lightly ripped Saakashvili's a$$hole. The footage of Saakashvili poking his lair with a stick is excised.

Neither are

You are a freak show. USA should deport you. If you were like that in Russia you would be cleaning polar bears sh't in the Northern Siberia.

I get the impression that most people here on this forum judge Russia

Look, Russia is Russia. No much there. To be a power you need technology, high GDP, growing economy and reserch, it would help if you had some attractive culture and so on.

Russia has ores, few technologies mainly military from USSR times. The only thing it has as always is somewhat modern military. It is not enough to be a global power. All the rest of your rumbling is just a nosense.

Good to have aspirations but you cleary cannot handle it, and you blame it on others.
As if Russia were known for sticking to agreements. lol!

army from completely cleansing Tbilisi of the "elite" that thinks too much of themselves.

Hey that fits to the T! Just put Moscow in place of Tbilisi and add some nukes into the picture.

@gumishu
Exactly.

Sorry but Putin is going to end up looking like the USA's bi7CH when this ends. Biden or not, a guarantee Ukraine wont be in NATO will never happen. Now more then ever Ukraine will want to be, and will end up being in NATO.

Putin over played his hand. Now NS2 is on the line, and if he doesn't back off he will get his @$$ kicked in Ukraine with bodies getting shipped to Moscow, and he wont be selling gas to Germany. So the EU deals with higher costs, but Putin is defeated.

Trump would do nothing against Putin, you forget how he was practically whoring himself out for Putin praise. Trump would have given him Ukraine, like he gave Afghanistan to the Taliban. Yes, Trump did that deal not Biden.

Velund

So the EU deals with higher costs, but Putin is defeated.

It will cost Germany half of their chemical industry... Because LNG supplies are not stable (an extra $1 on Asian exchanges and all tankers turned there - Europe can suck the dick of the U.S. ambassador), and the increased cost makes the products uncompetitive.

But the funny thing about this situation is that the sneaky nature of the Poles has planted a bomb under the entire EU. PGNiG goes to arbitration court to change the formula for calculating the price in the contract retrospectively, and link it not to the price of oil but to market indicators. This was very profitable for the Polish company at the time, and it demanded a refund of the alleged "overpayment" in the amount of USD 1.5 billion. Gazprom complied with the court ruling. But in the summer of 2021, spot gas prices in Europe began to skyrocket amid the energy crisis and a shortage of supply of liquefied gas diverted by suppliers to the premium Asian market. And now Gazprom has gone to arbitration in order to retrospectively revise the gas price. Consumers will now have to pay more to Gazprom, including for previously consumed gas. And given that the "dependency reduction policy" forced many consumers to refuse long-term contracts with Gazprom, it trades on a much more favorable spot market. It sells less gas, but at a much higher price. And when reserves in European storage facilities run out completely and European speculators have nothing to skim off the cream of the crop (selling gas purchased for cheap at current exorbitant prices), Gazprom will find itself in an ideal situation. NS1 will be well enough to generate same income as both NS was planned. ;)

The funniest thing about this is that it is expected that by March the Russian part of the costs of NS2 will be indirectly offset by the super profits arising from the idiotic actions of PGNiG and European bureaucrats. But no one forced them to do what they thought was profitable.

So pay up, gentlemen of Europe. Brussels and Warsaw are thinking of you, as hard as they can. ;)

Gazprom complied

Can suck on its own pipe!

the sneaky nature of the Poles

What the hell are you talking about? Nothing sneaky about - F off Russia and stay in your corner of Asia where you belong. Don't put your greedy thieving snout where it doesn't belong.

made-up reality

Is the invasion of Georgia made up? The occupation of Crimea - also made up? The support for Donbas terrorists - also made up?

the Georgian army's attack on Russian peacekeepers, where they were stationed, and the shelling of the city of Tskhinvali

Yes, yes - and Polish army attacked radio station in Gleiwitz in 1939, that's why Wehrmacht peacekeepers had to invade. :)

Do you ever wonder why all those nations who were "close friends" with Russia in the past - the Baltics, Poland, Georgia, Ukraine etc. don't want to have anything to do with you anymore? Why they took the first chance to break any ties with you? Why they all want to be a part of the EU and NATO, and not some sort of Warsaw Pact? I mean, you seem like an inteligent person (sort of) - do you ever wonder why people of all nations and cultures want nothing to do with your country?

I think it's about time to tell Putin "иди на хуй": impose full-scale sanctions (including SWIFT ban), stop buying anything from them (sure we will lose some money initially, but before the West gets poorer Russia will go bankrupt), and if it comes to war, so be it. Russia can never win a full scale war against NATO, and if we are to have nuclear doom - so be it too. Who wants to live forever anyway? So bring it on, Volodya, or иди на хуй. :)

I hope Russian oligarchs are already plotting to remove mad Putin. If war breaks out, they will lose huge money due to acute sanctions.

Peacekeeper base near Tshinvali after attack

This is peacekeepers base after shelling from Georgian army. 10 dead.

pawian
11 Feb 2022  #689

10 dead.

I hope Ukrainians will be far more efficient on Russian invaders, killing them by thousands. For a good reason. Heavy losses might provoke a kind of rebellion among Russian military who will refuse to die in a senseless war against their Slavic brothers and will turn against their Kremlin masters instead.

Currently, there is nothing and nobody else that can save Russia from a complete disaster. Either mutinous oligarchs or rebellious army have to remove the madman from his Kremlin throne.

Tskhinvali street

Tskhinvali, one of streets

There is a lot of video footage from 2008 on the net. But looks like you do not wish to look what really was there, you are quite comfortable in your virtual reality. Sorry if we will need to break your comfort someday.
