Poland`s aid to Ukraine if Russia invades

Bratwurst Boy

It's more a matter of one party now, the SPD...it seems...

There will be books written about their Russia-connections....it's not funny anymore....

On the other hand:

Scholz apparently approves two billion euros in military aid

spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/olaf-scholz-bewilligt-laut-reuters-zwei-milliarden-euro-militaerhilfe-grossteil-fuer-die-ukraine-a-d31936f7-da3e-4505-abfd-16f1ce21e8ac

According to the Reuters news agency, Chancellor Scholz has pledged billions in additional military aid. Most of this is intended to benefit Ukraine.

How will Germany ever recover its reputation?

It doesn't have one after Auschwitz, Warsaw, Stalingrad, Oradour, Lidice.

They've probably got a secret Putinov-Merkeltrop pact.

It doesn't have one

Well....a few years back Germany had been voted "The most popular country", heh:)

BBC poll: Germany most popular country in the world

bbc.com/news/world-europe-22624104

Germany is the most positively viewed nation in the world in this year's annual Country Ratings Poll for the BBC World Service.

More than 26,000 people were surveyed internationally for the poll.

They were asked to rate 16 countries and the European Union on whether their influence in the world was "mainly positive" or "mainly negative"....

So there....we have (had) a fine reputation! 😜

Till 2020 we had the best reputation:

Germany by far most admired country, with US, China and Russia vying for second - global poll

theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/27/germany-most-admired-country-in-the-world-as-us-china-and-russia-vie-for-second-place-gallup-poll

Germany is the most admired country in the world for the third year running, leaving the US in a tight battle for distant second place with China and Russia, according to a new global leadership poll.

The annual poll, conducted by Gallup, casts more doubt on US secretary of state Mike Pompeo's claim on Friday that the US was "perfectly positioned" to lead the free world in a new ideological rivalry with the Chinese Communist Party.

The US had a 33% global approval rating for 2019, just one percentage point ahead of China and 3% ahead of Russia. Germany outshines all three by a long stretch, with a 44% rating. These were the only four countries respondents were asked about. ....

That's not gonna happen again soon..

Probably...

But the claim that we never had a good reputation since WWII ist just wishful thinking!

Na ja...actually till 2021...that was a survey from last year:

Germany is named 'best country in the world' for fifth year running in survey: UK falls from second to fifth while US rises following end of Trump presidency

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10165961/Germany-named-best-country-world-fifth-year-running-survey-UK-falls-fifth.html

The UK fell from second to fifth in rankings, in part due to a decline in its global reputation for welcoming foreign people and protecting the environment

Germany was followed by Canada, Japan, Italy and the UK in the 'nation brands' rankings by British political scientist Simon Anholt and pollster Ipsos

Germany was commended for people's trust in German products and the government's work to fight poverty ....

according to a new global leadership poll.

I'm not sure it's a good example BB - in the same poll Russia was tied for second place!! So Russia was only marginally less admired than Germany .......... it would suggest that those polled weren't the most astute.

Still best! :)

Such prejudiced postings like from Jon are just stupid and I like to slap him with real numbers, heh:)

Aiden Eslyn captured in Mariupol, looks like he slept badly.

Like that somebody walked over his face.

some Ukrainian soldiers are foreign mercenaries.

Maybe they works for Patriarch of Constantinople or Pope of Rome. Maybe for NATO. They will be nicely interrogated and they will talk

Very wrong. I've been increasingly sad about the course of Germany (a country I want to like) in recent years. Merkel was in office about 5 (maybe more) years too long. AFter 8-12 years in office a head of state invevitably is too insulated from the public (and too surrounded in a political bubbleO) to act in the best interest of the citizens.

More good news for Vlad and friends, Ukraine claims Moskva's captain was also killed in that explosion. Another one to add to the growing Hall of Fame of dead senior officers. Rock on!

And yes, we definitely need a term limit! Eternal-Merkel drove that point home...

For what?

Germany and russia are two peas in a pod.

Sooner Poland and Russia reach deal, sooner both countries can focus on Germany.

@Bratwurst Boy

And how do you feel about resurgent Germany with ideas of powerful army?

Just let it stand..."Gas Chambers" and "Zyklon B"....let your mask fall....but from now on please ignore me as I will ignore you, arsehole!

jon357

Gas Chambers" and "Zyklon B".

It can never be forgotten or forgiven. An eternal stain on that country.

please ignore me

Germans often wish their National Crime was ignored. It isn't and will never be.

And now they're funding Russian genocide.

jon357
15 Apr 2022  #8478

Anyway, to get beyond Germans hoping the world will somehow forget Auschwitz, Treblinka etc, it's worth restating that russia is currently moving heavy machinery to the Katyń Cemetery. Apparently in response to Poland assisting Ukraine in their struggle.

The footage of the machinery going in is striking.

Disturbing news about Moskva.... apparently Russia made no effort to try to rescue those on board.... very true to type discarding soldiers like so much garbage....

It can never be forgotten or forgiven

So.... war forever?

jon357
15 Apr 2022  #8480

Russia made no effort to try to rescue

This seems to be a constant in this war. They are trying to send a message about how ruthless they are.

So.... war forever?

So.... remembering the Holocaust forever. It is after all an eternal stain, as are the massacres at Bucha, Kharkiv and Mariupol.

Lenka

remembering the Holocaust forever

Remember is fine, not moving forward is moronic.

Russia made no effort to try to rescue those on board....

Not surprising with Russia

jon357
15 Apr 2022  #8482

not moving forward

Moving forward is to keep the memory of that eternal stain as alive.as it is for the survivors.

Just the same with Bucha and Mariupol. If we forget genocide, it gets repeated.

Tacitus

@jon357

Very disappointing to read your posts here.

was ignored.

Germans want it ignored so badly that they built a huge monument to it in their capital... .

Bucha, Kharkiv and Mariupol

Those will haunt Russia forever, but only them. Also, be careful what you wish for. Part of the reason why Germany was so understanding towards Russia and refused to deliver weapons was the knowledge of its' past. You don't side easily against a country which lost 20m people in war against you.

ever recover its reputation?

Give it some time, once we have a full picture of what each country contributed to Ukraine. And perhaps have loudly talked about but never delivered.

My home city of Essen has currently accepted more refugees from the Ukraine than France or the UK alltogether. Will be interesting to see if those countries will step up if the war continues for months on end.

Lenka
15 Apr 2022  #8484

Russia and Germany spend years and years trying to improve their image. The difference is Russia attacjed again an Germany didn't.

f we forget genocide, it gets repeated

It is and will be repeated.
Your posts resemble childish slogans. Genocides happen because there is a lot of evil people and even more kind of good ones that do nothing.

And Germany went a long way since then. Making it as if noone had the country in good esteem and that they aren't admired in many aspects is silly

jon357
15 Apr 2022  #8485

Yet it is still an eternal stain on them, one that can never be washed away.

And they have tried to block sanctions against russia, tried to prevent military aid to Ukraine, and are paying them millions daily.

Two peas in a pod.

Lenka
15 Apr 2022  #8486

, one that can never be washed away.

Oh FFS seriously. Are you really into blaming kids for their father's sins?

jon357
15 Apr 2022  #8487

Are they from a different culture? Have they changed that much in so short a time? Some things -or one in particular - are too big to forgive or forget.

Ans, as you were told, they tried to block sanctions and military aid. It's not for nothing that President Zelensky chose not to receive that german guy.

Lenka
15 Apr 2022  #8488

Have they changed that much in so short a time?

Seems like it.

they tried to block sanctions and military aid.

And UK is trying their hardest not to take refugees.

While I think Germany made an error in judgement it doesn't justify that statement that Germany has no reputation.

Did you guys read about that women talking to her soldier husband talking about raping Ukranians? What has to be going on in your head to do that?

jon357
15 Apr 2022  #8489

And UK is trying their hardest not to take refugees

Yet giving huge military aid, including right at the start of (and before) the invasion. I'd favour more refugees coming too, which may yet happen.

that women talking to her soldier husband talking about raping Ukranians

Utterly vile. What kind of people are they?

One plus is that the husband is currently in a military hospital so can do no more harm. The wife's name and address has been publicised which will not gain her many friends.

Lenka
15 Apr 2022  #8490

I'd favour more refugees coming too, which may yet happen.

Germany agreed to the sanction and is sending help too so...

The wife's name and address has been publicised which will not gain her many friends.

They live in Crimea....

My stupid hope against hope is that maybe she ment an afair and not rape. I really hate being confronted with how vile people can be.
