His compatriots (of Zelensky) convincingly voted for his platform to talk to Donbass and expected that from him. He was covered by extremists to whom he can either do nothing because they are guarded by someone stronger, or he is a wuss that could not come out on the line and confront them. In any case, in the end, he decided not to mess with them, didn't ratify the Minsk agreements but to solve the problem by joining NATO in an accelerated march, not in formal but in informal membership, so then the Russians will probably get scared and return Donbass to him. That may be how it works in sketches, but in realpolitiks it brings you exactly where he is today, and Ukraine with him.

The US proved shameful by saying it would not send troops to the UA. This is the 4th case in the last few years that they have let their allies down the river: Syrian rebels, Kurds, beardless Afghans and now the UA.

The mood in Germany is truly turning....Putin/Russia have alot of friends here....traditionally and because of our history...."had" one can say now....that will have far reaching consequences!

I think something will change in Poland as well - those who speak against the EU and NATO are increasingly looked at as Moscow's agents and people understand much better that only united we can survive. Of course, there is immense activity of Russian trolls in Polish internet, but very few people are falling for their lies.

Von der Leyen says this is the biggest $hit in Europe since WWII, which in the meantime has been a mecca of peace and stability so far I guess. A sovereign country has been attacked and that is inadmissible nowadays. The hypocrisy of the EU is shameless.
