Russia is big enough to have enough clean territory for survivors (not the best climate, though, but rich with resources). I doubt Poland or Germany will have such luxury, even if only NATO bases that potentially can carry nuclear weapons of any type will be nuked.

I would prefer that the decision to join NATO (or EU for that matter) being the wish of the people...or at least that of a broad majority.
