Its almost end of December and I am sitting here in my comfy, well heated flat, electricity bills are not that terrible either. Strange. I was reliably informed that we will all freeze and economy will collapse without "muh Ruskie gas." Novichok, I do my part by donating money to the cause, just today I helped buy two armored cars for the Czech medical unit that currently serves at Bakhmut - the five milions that were needed were collected in about five hours, so the morale on the homefront is going strong. The biden Administration had requested an additional $37 billion from Congress to send to Ukraine, but lawmakers appear set to offer even more than the request to the tune of about $45 billion.

That would push the total American contribution to over $100 billion.
Before Congress allocates one more penny of American taxpayer money to another foreign government, they should at the very least do so only after Europe has agreed to match our offer.

Europe and Ukraine have both become quite content to allow America to shoulder, indefinitely apparently, the primary burden for funding European security.

I actually have to agree with you. The EU needs to do more for Ukraine. The US is doing all the heavy lifting here, and where is the $ from Europe? My suggestion is to take the 23% VAT that chokes the $hit out of every person in the EU, take three whole months of that and give it to Ukraine. That would be a bold move. Instead of withholding funds from Poland who is leading the way in the EU, give Poland the money they are owed and then give Ukraine truck loads of money and weapons. Great point JR. The EU is just not doing enough, and if the US is going to spend this way, the EU should be taxed for it down the road. As I have said, Freedom is not Free, and it is not free for the EU either.

As I know the EU aid for Ukraine will be at least 18 bln € in 2023.
