@Velund, I wasn't following the Skripals case so I can't say much about it. But I can verify that he was poisoned with Novichok nerve agent. Why I believe that? Because that was stated by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). This is an international organisation consisting of 193 member states and it cooperates with the United Nations. That makes it much more credible than some random, anonymous guy on the internet claiming that some people from Salisbury or Moscow told him something.

However, after Chinese retaliation, 140 million Russians will evaporate and only 1 million will survive, the ones who have moved to live in European countries. . The Chinese wont have to mobilize a single soldier in order to retake their former posessions from Russia.

All they have to do is wait while Russia is ruining itself in the war in Ukraine. Russia was already heading for a severe economic and demographic crisis in the next decade before Putin made his play fot Kiev. The direct and indirect costs of the war and the fact that Putin is not even trying solve Russia's dependence on the sale of fossil fuel (which are going to decline past 2030 in any case) will firce his successor to make tough decisions. Selling some territory to China in order to stay somewhat solvent may be among those.

The article, by someone who was until recently a senior army officer with considerable combat experience, suggested that the way the western democracies calculate casualty ratios is outdated and the emergence of precision drones means that the death/injury ratio needs to be reassessed in the light of the far higher kill rate by Ukraine today than in previous wars elsewhere.
